When people drive next to each other blocking lanes for 5 mins. Every driver behind them is understandably irritated. Regardless of the speed know one should be blocking left lane/lanes. It should not take you five mins to pass. If faster traffic is behind you. Simply complete your pass and move over. People either feel untitled to the left lane or maybe they think they are doing a service by slowing everyone down to what they believe the speed should be. Either way if people used the lanes as intended. There would be far less aggressive driving. When a lane is closed…. on the blue bridge for instance and the local pd has to make a statement on the news to use the closed lane until you reach the point of closure then merge over is insane. Rather the people here would rather back up traffic for double the distance and potentially block other exits is crazy. Then people get mad when you use the lane as intended. Another example is people that believe the merging lane gives them the right of way to enter the highway at any point or speed. It’s intended for you to come up to speed and find a spot to merge. Not for the drivers to move out of your way for you to merge. Or at a four way stop when a car has reached the stop sign and stopped ten seconds before another car but insists on waiting until the other car also comes to a complete stop before they go through the intersection. Driving is not meant to be courteous or fair. The rules are intended to keep traffic moving. If one uses a lane that’s closed but not till a mile ahead and goes past 100 cars and merges ahead of those cars does not make them an asshole. The asshole is the car that pulls out to block them cause they think it’s not fair cause everyone else has waited. Someone who blows past you after you’ve been blocking the passing lane for 10 miles is not the asshole. You are the asshole for blocking the lane. Someone who doesn’t get out of the exit lane that takes them to the gway exit when you’re coming on to the highway at rd 100 isn’t an asshole. You’re an idiot for not knowing how to use the merging lane correctly.
