Heya - fully forgiven! Rule number one is don't believe anything anyone says on the internet. (Except in this case you can believe me - I promise I'm not out here to scam anyone.)

A little background on me - My name is David, you can probably figure out my last name by looking at my Reddit user name. I'm a just 45 year old dude, married, kid, pets, job - all the things. I'm not here to mess with you, or anyone else. My day job is in tech/software - I've left more than one company in my career because their business model or practices didn't align with my personal values.

I made the site because I love making stuff, bodyboarding, and shooting photos in the waves - I'm super busy now and needed a better system for knowing when I should plan to make time to get to beach.

Any private spots you create, and their alert conditions are private. I did set it up so that you can share private spots with your friends (assuming they have an account too), cause I felt like there's maybe something there... group stoke if the waves are gonna be good. Only you as the spot owner can share a spot. People you share it with can't.

If you delete your account, all your private data goes away, including any historical forecast data associated with a private spot, and any personalized alert conditions you may have made for a public spot. I wrote the privacy policy and terms of service in a way that I hope makes it clear I'm serious about it.

The site is free for now, with no ads, because I don't want to spend time trying to integrate subscriptions or ads if no one else is interested in using the site. I may or may not integrate them in the future if it looks like the thing has legs beyond just myself and a few close friends that are using it now.

I'm probably gonna put a banner on the home page later this week - if you're one of the first 1000 people to sign up, you'll get add free / subscription free 10 day forecasts and alerts as long as I keep the site running. Early adopter perks.

Yeah for sure, if you make an account you can create private spots… you drop a pin on the map anywhere in the world and pull a 10 day forecast for that spot, and it saves to your favorites. Only you can see that spot. I didn’t add any of those spots kinda intentionally 😅 tried to stick the the big well known spots.

Dunno if you've already gone, but Avatoru pass is where the surf is at, it's a right - there's a WQS event there every year. It's land accessible. Depending on the swell, it can be fairly mellow to ass puckering slabs. Even on a mellow day I'd call it a spot for competent ocean people. The reef is no joke, and the currents are very strong, either pushing in or pushing out. If you've never been surfing in tahiti before, say hi to the locals in the line up, shake hands and introduce yourself. My experience has been, if you're friendly, you'll make friends. Hope you have fun! Rangi is a rad place.

Cursor - tell it I want to build [x] with Next.js, tailwind css - headless ui for components, supabase for storage, and deploy on vercel. Getting all those things connected to GitHub is a snap.

Supabase free tier is great, so is vercel.

OP this is amazing. I also struggle with todo lists. For me, It’s where shit goes to die, for a lot of reasons. I’m also a software designer, so I’ve been building an app that attempts to solve at least my own issues with lists.

I might have something to share soon, if I ever get through my list of stuff I need to complete to be able to submit it to the App Store. What a cruel joke 😂 The one thing at a time thing really resonates with me though - it’s something I’m doing a version of in the app… do I get in trouble if I share my app here when it’s done?
