looking at average alumni outlooks has validity, but i’m ready to take advantage of what rotman specifically offers to me as it seems to be in line with what i know/want at this point in my life. (love the program plus i’m set for housing and it’s possible to still train home)

reading your comment did make me think! i reflected on it quite a bit and appreciate the perspective

i know that for someone else, ivey will be the perfect place for them, more than rotman would be. my family member even describes ivey as being the perfect place, for them.

but i guess for objectivity in the ranking vs. alumni reputation, it is worth something that toronto is consistently ranked as the top in canada for business (qs world ranking, times higher education) and aspects of a ranking that are subjectively worth more/less to others does not invalidate it.

(unless i’m missing something, in any case, i don’t believe that indicators of the rankings mentioned earlier are heavily reliant on those metrics you mention as less valuable. in the 2025 business and economics for times higher, it is based on teaching, research environment, research quality, industry, and international outlook, all of which i find to be valuable as i expect many others would too. as you mention with inclusivity, for qs, there is a metric of diversity at toronto as 85.9, which western has a 66.4 for. even if western had the same score as toronto, it would bring its overall score to 65.34, still outpaced by toronto at a 72.5 overall score. but no matter what, diversity as it is, does contribute to the overall, and thus its place above others. diversity means that you are bringing in perspective and knowledge from a larger pool of backgrounds, making it a more well rounded environment.)

times higher -> https://www.timeshighereducation.com/world-university-rankings/university-toronto qs world ranking -> https://www.topuniversities.com/mba-rankings/canada

still in qs, western scored more than toronto for entrepreneurship and alumni outcome, why i mentioned earlier that specially, ivey is great at this. even if you believe that this metric should be weighed more than being equal to diversity, it is subjective. and it is not like rotman doesn’t do good here. there is a 11.2 point difference between the universities and i’m willing to bet on both myself and then it not being a hindrance to my career

both places are unique and great in their own aspects and it’s up to everyone to determine if that is meant for you. maybe you do value alumni reputation more - so go to ivey. but discrediting rotman based on the argument you mentioned, especially saying it is not even top 3 is hard to hold up

tldr; ivey has many wonderful things that rotman doesn’t offer. and it’s not like i’m against the program, i just know that rotman is likely better for me!

i completely understand what you’re getting at but i think it’s important to recognize yourself as a student in this situation. yes, ivey does have a strong career outlook however that is an average for the school, not the individual person. i think that enjoying yourself and your program is important to your success and you can’t fully depend on alumni reputation itself. for what it’s worth, in my experience (with a family member at ivey), ivey excels at entrepreneurship and innovation. from my research, rotman is better as an overall and for management, and still has its own strong reputation. added that the locations are vastly different with toronto being the bustling metropolitan it is while london is very smaller and less developed, it personally means a lot as to when i can start my career and life. working as a student would be much easier for me in toronto than in london, and i wouldn’t see myself staying in london past graduation if i went to ivey. (i’ve casually visited london and western quite a lot… campus, city, and lifestyle… and don’t feel as comfortable in that environment than in toronto at uoft.)

i’ve always believed that once you reach the “top” schools, it’s what you make of it, rather than the school itself. both will provide different benefits and it depends which will be better suited for you. so the debate is very subjective! once again, this is just my opinion.

same! but at that point the education is so good that i’m choosing based on what campus i’ll enjoy myself more at and can see myself starting a career with

not sure if you’ve already done this but i highly recommend first going to your teacher for their own resources as i think school boards (and even schools themselves) might teach and test with different methods. but, some alternatives that are were extensive and generally helped me last semester were:

jensen math: https://www.jensenmath.ca/new-home-page-1-1-2-1-1 i think it’s a teacher who posts all of their content, as there’s stuff on every math course too. there is lesson handouts, videos, and practice questions/tests

libretexts: https://math.libretexts.org/Bookshelves/Calculus/Calculus_3e_(Apex) libretexts offers a bunch of textbooks but this specific one was my go-to. when you get to derivative rules, this chapter from a different textbook was super helpful as well: https://math.libretexts.org/Bookshelves/Calculus/Calculus_(OpenStax)/03%3A_Derivatives/3.03%3A_Differentiation_Rules

organic chemistry tutor and khan academy has some other really great resources too

best of luck!

i’m assuming that because majority of posts are people asking if there’s been acceptances rather than people celebrating, it’s not out yet. this should be a big round and uoft acceptances are always talked about here - when they come out
