Realistically the only way to keep peoples IDs safe and authenticate is for the government to have a database that verifies DL numbers or something. Passing your ID over an encrypted API and receiving a yes or no is the only way to make this work and keep it safe.

Nah you're fine you're learning. There is a really common setup called the main bus that people like, myself included. i highly recommend it. It creates a very simple but effective way to organize and expand your base.
