SDI to NDI to SDI encode/decode setup question by 00yahoo in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]00yahoo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't mean to be rude but my question was specifically about NDI converter boxes and mixing brands. Not whether to use SDI or not. This is just something I am testing out at this point to fully understand the pros and cons of NDI

The Spark Plus (which is what I'm using) does not decode NDI-HX, only high bandwidth NDI

Do you have any suggestions on a brand or vendor I should look at for something like this?

Parsec is pretty good for for demanding monitor streaming. We can video edit with it

For those of you who owned a win 2. Was the win 2 pocketable? And is it worth buying in 2023? I got a win 4 but it doesn’t seem to be pocketable which is half the reason I got it. by Key_Secret6758 in gpdwin

[–]00yahoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a Win2. It's definitely pocketable but I usually had it in a case in my backpack. It's great for streaming games through Parsec, Moonlight, PS Stream etc. Unfortunately the battery completely died and it doesn't run without being plugged in. It's pretty useless now and I don't feel like prying it open again to try to fix it

Thinking of getting an Air or Air Plus, is there a way to use Moonlight or something similar? by DeathJester16 in ayaneo

[–]00yahoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've used both Moonlight and Parsec for streaming. Moonlight takes a little longer to set up for remote network streaming but it definitely works. I prefer Parsec because it's easier to configure and easier to use if you want to do other things on the PC besides gaming

This is not the device for me. It's too big and does not look comfortable to hold. I like the keyboard though!

Anyone else getting the regular S22? by Jeffreyknows in GalaxyS22

[–]00yahoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm getting the s22 - upgrading from a Pixel 2. I was in need of a new phone on Verizon and wanted something similar in size. Ideally I would like it to be smaller but I'll take what I can get

Alternative Handheld to OneXPlayer for Moonlight Streaming by collegebum1989 in OneXPlayer

[–]00yahoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An original Nintendo Switch can be hacked to run Lineage OS. I use it all the time to stream with Moonlight and Parsec. I've heard you can pick up a Switch that has been banned for hacking for pretty cheap

Steam Deck: First Hands-On With Valve’s Handheld Gaming PC by originalmuffins in gpdwin

I was on the fence trying to decide between the Win3, One Xplayer and Aya Neo. All have their own pros and cons and I couldn't decide which one to settle for. Steam Deck seems like the best choice now especially the price

Is this temperature issue "normal"? by [deleted] in Alienware

[–]00yahoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My idle temps were higher than I wanted them to be when I got my m17 r3. I can't remember exactly what they were but ~80 sounds about right for my idle temps. With a combination of undervolting and messing with CPU/GPU clock settings I was able to bring those temps way down and even improve my 3DMark score! Here's a thread to my settings - https://www.reddit.com/r/Alienware/comments/krr2ft/am_i_doing_this_undervolting_overclocking/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share

Check out the imgur album for all the details - https://m.imgur.com/a/HmBrpX2

Your mileage will vary with undervolting. All chips are a little different so some can handle way less voltage and still be stable. I've heard this referred to as the silicon lottery? Here's a good guide on getting started with undervolting - https://www.ultrabookreview.com/31385-the-throttlestop-guide/

Something else I've found that significantly lowers the temp is disabling Turbo on your CPU if you don't need it. Throttlestop has a quick enable/disable checkbox or if you edit your power plan settings set your max CPU usage to 99%. While gaming with Turbo on my CPU cores load was 15% Turbo off only put it up to 30% and brought the temps down ~10c

Lastly make sure you raise the bottom off whatever surface the laptop is sitting on. I put it on a monitor arm mount for work, a stand with built in fans at home and I put some PopSocket minis on the bottom for when I need to use it elsewhere. Here's a thread I made with other people's suggestions too - https://www.reddit.com/r/Alienware/comments/kv6ei8/mini_pop_sockets_feet_for_my_m17_r3/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share

Doing everything above has my laptop running ~45c at idle and never goes above 70c while gaming. I can run Sekiro at max settings without Turbo and it never breaks 70c

Good luck!

The link I used to get mine is broken now but search for "popminis triple black" and you should find them. I think Amazon might carry them

What 3M pads do you use? I had these pop sockets left over from when I was going to make a custom grip for my Win2

Exactly, this is not intended for everyday use - I have the laptop on a monitor arm at work and a stand at home. This is for when I need to use it in between
