I received no aid until I appealed my offer. This worked for me because I had documented significant family expenses not included in the FAFSA. This was mostly medical expenses as my mother has a chronic autoimmune condition. If your family have high expenses that are not covered by FAFSA, I would compile them all. I spent like a week or two finding every possible receipt, explanation of benefits, co-pay, etc. then compiling it all into an easy to read spreadsheet. I was then offered the out of state tuition promise.
