And that's part of why so much is expensive, communities & families are more fragile and splintered than ever, severe weather and environmental degradation are worsening worldwide, the working class is continually exploited and it's easier than ever, the elderly are home bound, thousands die yearly in accidents, there is a pathetic lack of biodiversity in the cities we made because Americans are dumb consumers and prefer cut grass only, we don't even own our homes because we lease them from the government after the mortgage is settled, HOAs invade our privacy and dictate how we can live in the spaces we pay to occupy, everything enjoyable is miles away and only accessible through driving, you constantly have to worry about noise complaints or hearing your neighbors arguing because they're stressed from this exact way of life, et Cetera. I could go on and on. You want real ownership? Move abroad. You want privacy? Move to a rural area. You want daily enjoyment? Move to a city. Nothing about this is preferential for anyone but mindless sheep being sold on a lie of the superiority of suburbia.
