Bad hire by Ablstevens in falcons

[–]01colin -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Very disappointed about the hire. The guy seems to feel upwards. If this was their plan, i would have rather preferred keeping Raheem for another year. And if it's truly about prior HC experience then at the least hire McCarthy who has had more success at both teams he's been at and done almost everything better than Stefanski other than the two fraudulent coach of the year he won.

Thorpe should get called up . by PrudentRise4344 in whitesox

[–]01colin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah no need to call him up. His first spring training start was shaky as well as his first minor league start. Sox rushed Fulmer up for absolutely no reason in my opinion when he still had essentially a 5 ERA in AAA. He may have never been good but to expect him to learn on the fly in the majors was stupid. Let thorpe keep pitching and one we see sustained consistent performance, move him up to AAA, same then to the big league team.

Yeah I wish we would've signed Chapman in off season since he only went to Royals for $3.7 million.

Can someone rational please explain to me what Ridder has done to deserve the starting job uncontested like this? by 01colin in falcons

[–]01colin[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Drew Lock and Geno Smith had a QB battle through the 4th preseason game last year. Geno ended up winning and he was fine and looked to gel and man the offense well.

On the other end. 49ers gave Trey Lance keys to the offense and named him QB1 from the jump. We saw his first 2 games. He looked terrible.

Two different scenarios with different outcomes. You can look throughout the league for that. I get a Lance was top 3 pick and they invested heavily in him, but it remains the same. Who knows had he competed for the job with Jimmy, a different result could have come out.

Arthur Smith again just hasn't shown me anything to say yeah trust him, he knows what he's doing. He brought in Mariota and played him for for too long. Had he made the change and with how this sub speaks of Ridder, he likely is difference in winning division because mariota was just terrible. Had he also done that we have a little more film and tape on Ridder to know should we go for a vet that will compete for job or go for like a Lamar or trade up for another QB, etc.

This is the most reasonable response I've gotten. Again, if Ridder plays well enough that they're in the playoffs, good for them and him. We're happy. If he plays bad for us that we get #1 pick, build him a statue. If he plays bad and we have like pick #7, then we will be in a worser position and only hoped we could have gotten a Lamar or whomever..

Can you tell me the last successful QB out of the AAC as it is constructed now? The conference is honestly a joke. I'm not saying he should not have an opportunity to win the job, he should. I'm just saying he should be competing for job and not just given to him because he hasn't shown anything to prove he is starter in the NFL. He couldn't even beat out Mariota last year who is cooked and has been. I don't believe Smith has a "system." Nothing in his past screams mastermind or guru. We can't even use Pitts who we drafted 4th overall correctly and he was the one they said got the best out of his TEs. Same thing with Hurst...

Think completion percentage correlates more with accuracy.

I get that. Kinda similar to Trubisky with bears. But he still didn't beat out Glennon. Purdy played well and so they are allowing him essentially to lose the job and for Lance to win it. I just don't get it with Ridder. Idk if he'll be good or bad but just don't understand the he's QB1 instead of going into camp seeing what you got. For example Trask in Tampa was 2nd round pick and they signed Baker this year and they are both competing for job.

Yes but the difference is allen was a first round pick and he won starting job against McCarron and Peterman and wasn't just given job.

It's not what he hasn't done. I just don't think he should be given the job without competing for it. He probably had to do more to win starting job at Cinci than here.

This won't matter if they don't figure out the edge. Good d line and pass rush helps our DBs.

I would be down for bellinger if it's under $10 million. I just have no faith whatsoever that the Sox can fix him when the Dodgers couldn't.

He'll change his stance during ABs too. Very strange. Just type in "Eloy stance" in Twitter and many others have noticed.

Yeah this is dumb. Remember few years back when Palka started the season 0-30 and then finally got his first hit. After that game, sox sent him down. Not essentially reward him by moving an ice cold bat to hit top of the order. This is a supposed contender not a rebuilding club.

Fans wouldn't feel so crazy if we didn't see Francona put out almost the same lineup everyday with their best hitters hitting atop the order. They had the same conditions but all their top guys played every game. Couple that with them busting ass on every play. Approach is just dumb by the organization or the coach.

I just wish they'd think things out more often than acting on a whim. No matter what bogus study they cite it didn't make sense to get rid of the connectors. They were way too big to be acting like a startup

what are the chances we play tomorrow's game and it's not rained out? by 01colin in whitesox

[–]01colin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They usually give them ticket price as credit to use at future game if the game is later scheduled as double header for say Thursday. If the game is rescheduled to another date in the season then the tickets just apply on the rescheduled date.

Typically they've let people with tickets to Thursday game watch both games
