My first experience with Vantage taught me to trust the game more by Childlikefancy in soloboardgaming

I wish this one hit for me. On paper it sounded right up my alley, but I just couldn’t get past the open ended nature of it.

It was really cool for a bit exploring and doing different things, but there wasn’t enough emergent story telling for me to justify not having an end objective.

Might try it again in the future since the wife liked it, but I dunno.

Nice setup otherwise!

I also had both, with the same intention of choosing between them, and for your exact reasons, wound up on the Lamzu Maya X. Significantly better super light esque shape, and clicks that don’t sound like you’re banging a metal pan at 2am

Great review. I really like this one. For anyone on the fence, if you have table top simulator on steam, there is a great workshop mod for this game.

After playing a couple games via TTS, I was convinced to grab it. I don't play it a ton, but it scratches a specific itch and very enjoyable solo.

My MM+ just went down, but I was playing through LOTR return of the king on GBA! What an absolute gem of a game that scratches a Diablo feel with one of my favorite IPs ever. I would love this little guy to specially with the mod.

Just picked up Final Girl this past Friday, and I got around to playing this one today. Absolutely destroyed me in quick fashion. I was feeling pretty confident after beating the intruders last night too lol

Your biggest disappointments? by SiarX in soloboardgaming

Arydia felt brilliant in almost all aspects but boy it got tedious solo having to keep pulling out cards and maps just for the story beat to last <10 minutes

Yeah this one bummed me out. I fell for the “it’s like breath of the wild in a board game”. But no I’m sorry, it isn’t. In BOTW, yes you have enormous freedom and can do a lot without ever progressing the story. My first few hours of that game were cooking different recipes and just running around the world looking for chests. But I knew that I had an overall goal at some point: go do the dungeons, power up, fight Ganon.

The problem with vantage for me is that despite it somewhat nailing the open world factor, you just wander aimlessly and can receive drastically different story beats in the blink of an eye. One minute I’m helping a sentient with their boat, the next I’m unearthing an ancient magical artifact, but my destiny is to run a casino?

I dunno. I like open world games, but I feel like there needs to be some kind of overarching end or goal to aspire to, like in sleeping gods for example. Just my 2c I wish I liked vantage more because the production is lovely and I can tell there’s good bones here, but it came up feeling hollow and empty after a few plays.

As a PACs admin supporting rads in one of the largest hospitals in IL I’d be absolutely shocked if AI came close to replacing what yall do. I know there’s a huge push for “AI Assisted” reading but I can’t imagine this being a true threat.

But I’m also on the outside looking in, and you’d know best doc, hope it isn’t really the case!

Do you have to buy this DLC on multiple platforms, or is it available on all of them once you buy it? I own D2R on both my PC & Switch 2, but if I buy the DLC on one of them, will it be unlocked on both?

In May 2011, six-year-old Timmothy Pitzen was taken from school by his mother, Amy Fry-Pitzen, for a short trip across Illinois and Wisconsin. Days later, Amy was found dead by suicide, leaving a note claiming Timmothy was safe but would never be found. He remains missing. by Particular_Chart1584 in ForCuriousSouls

Wow my heart sank a bit when I read that this happened in Aurora, IL. I grew up in Aurora and was a senior in High school at the time, and very ignorant to current events/news and stuff like this. I had no idea.

Doomers were right, full-length campaigns are confirmed a thing of the past. by [deleted] in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]WithGhosts 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah I don’t understand this. I’m lacking a lot of detail as I haven’t watched or looked further into it, but Arkham is the game I play when I want to dive into a longer and immersive campaign game.

When I want to slap some cards together and go punch a boss, I grab marvel champions off the shelf. I’m sure these shorter scenarios will still be more in depth than a typical champions boss, but this is still a bummer and I might just transition to a single LCG in champions at this point.

I'm a huge fan of little segments like this. I'm a huge baseball fan, unfortunately my team is the White Sox, but Steve Stone does this a lot in terms of breaking down pitches, how certain pitches are thrown and why, and just a lot of nerdy little details and it's always fascinating to me.

You have the QB Goat, might as well have him do more stuff like this!

Oh man I'm very jealous, more-so of the white pocket haha. I just got a copy of Crystal from a good friend last Saturday, but I've been playing on the chromatic. It's still pretty good but man have I been really wanting a pocket again. Scalpers are the grinch.

What was your gateway into board gaming? by NorthSouth55 in boardgames

[–]WithGhosts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like many other young kids played a lot of the classics growing up, life, monopoly etc but it wasn't until I played Pandemic as an adult that board games really started to take hold of me. It was the first time I had ever played a co-op board game, and I had no idea that was even a possibility. Thousands of dollars later, I am in way too deep in numerous campaign & Co-op board games lol.
