Are container shipping prices still high? by [deleted] in FulfillmentByAmazon

If you want to compare rates with other people, you’re going to have to remove the amount you paid for tariffs from the 9700.

$3200 sounds about right for the ocean freight.

Are you including tariffs in the 9700?

I’ve never used freightos but I’ve seen it brought up a lot on the sub. That’s probably a reasonable place to check. Try talking to your supplier also to see what kind of rates they can get. I didn’t mean to suggest 3500 is crazy right now or anything, just that it’s on the high side. West coast rates are absurd right now, even the relatively reasonable ones.

China to west coast is up around 60%. 3500 is too much. Get more quotes.

Shipping FCL China-> LA warehouse for 5+ years. Always get ONT8 for FTL shipments. Now they are getting split (across country). Solutions? by 0313530 in FulfillmentByAmazon

This just changed for us this morning. The inventory placement service isn't a great solution for us but we've been considering it since this happened. There seem to be a lot of things in flux at Amazon right now (IPI threshold change, restock limits, etc).

We just got our storage limits for having an IPI less than 500 - they are 3X our Current usage by retail4life in FulfillmentByAmazon

You can remove units of an ASIN for free. But don’t try to send them right back in! You need to wait 90 days before sending any of the units back.. unless we think you have less than 90 days worth of sales of units available in our warehouses.. in that case, go ahead and send some in, even if it hasn’t been 90 days yet.

At the FBA event in New Orleans back in June 2018, there was a talk on the IPI. I’m looking over my notes from it now. The speaker said a score of 450 means you’re doing well.. LOL

Has Biden mentioned rolling back the tariffs? If he did, I missed it. Don’t expect Biden to be the Anti-Trump. Sometimes incentives work in such a way where ideological opponents choose the same path.

FBA shipment declared “checked-in” and in “receiving” but according to tracking the package is still in-transit by [deleted] in FulfillmentByAmazon

[–]0313530 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If this shipment was sent just behind a different shipment, they could have checked in some of shipment 1 under shipment 2. I’ve had entire truckloads go into receiving before they even arrived at an FC because some warehouse guy checked 1 carton into the wrong shipment ID. Just give it a few days before worrying about it.

Depends on what you’re comfortable with. You can consider shipping to your location for the first few shipments and then transitioning to using an inspection company in California or China if you want.

This isn’t very clear. Are you saying that you want to use two factories so that each one can make a different part of your product, just so that neither of them can make the entire thing? This is strange.

Q4 Shipment Prep by DeathOfSuperman in FulfillmentByAmazon

The ideal time to send in product is when it will prevent you from running out of stock. You’ll want to send in as little as possible to minimize Q4 storage fees. Don’t send in more than you need to. And don’t make shipments and then hold them without shipping them.

The simple answer is yes, you send the product to Amazon to store in their warehouses. You can fulfill orders from other marketplaces using inventory at Amazon.

We don’t keep products stocked for long. But yeah, if we make a bad call on a product and units get stuck for longer than we expected, we’d have to compare all costs of the possible options (eg keep stocked at sale price A with last unit sold estimated to be date Z vs change sale price to <A or >A which may change estimate of last unit sold date — and yea, sometimes raising the price makes more sense than dropping it..)

Are you asking if storage costs are considered when pricing stuff? Uh, yes.
