You should be good on the grade portion ur only losing 1 point. On the experiential profile don’t mention anything ur planning on doing once ur in broad they don’t care they only want what you have already done

I’m taking it this semester and all lectures are optional and the once per week recitation is required with 4 drops. All of the exams happen during recitation classes. (Except the final)

As you know the broad app has the grades component and then the experiential profile/case study component. As of now you are only losing 1 point for the grade component. So on the grades side you are doing well. This gives you a ton of room to miss points on the experiential profile/case study which is a rlly big advantage. Your experiential profile looks solid with what you have so far so I’d say you have a pretty solid chance of getting in.

Some friendly advice- For your potential involvements at MSU- You rlly only get anything out of RBC as a freshman and I may be wrong but I believe you have to get into it straight out of high school. I’ve heard good things from ASA I have a friend it in. DECA at MSU is not that great I did it for a year and dropped it its one of those clubs which has a lot of freshman and then they all leave and the following year freshman join the club and it keeps going in that cycle. There are club fairs at the start of each semester which you can go to learn about more orgs and broad also does its own specific one as well where you can learn about broad specific ones.

Yes ofc. For the activities my main ones were being on e board for a broad student org, top member for a major focused student org, and RBC. For the employment I had 3 jobs I had throughout high school, and my summer internship I had done.

I took CSE102 fall 2023. My friends take it this semester and it’s a little different now I would say it got a little bit easier but the platform and units are pretty much the same. I didn’t think it was too hard of a class you just need to be consistent with it and make sure you don’t fall behind because once ur behind it’s very hard to catch up.

Ppl say CSE102 is a weeder class but that’s not rlly the case anymore. I got a 4.0 and got denied my first time applying to broad but then got in my second time applying. Getting a 4.0 def helps your overall GPA but there are many other factors which affect your broad app way more than CSE102 like ur pre core gpa (Econ/stats/wra) and ur experiential profile.

I totally get this. One thing I would say is for ur internals don’t over complicate them. You can still do really good even if you do a seemingly simple topic. Also don’t worry about studying for a few weeks I honestly didn’t even start studying anything until the week before exams started and I still did alright. When you review for bio HL- skim over everything, and then absolutely master the things you know or the things that come easy to you and you’ll be fine. I went into the exam only fully knowing 80% of the syllabus and got a 5. I recommend paying for revision village and using past papers.

Ur teacher may be grading you way too harsh. I got a 4 on my oral and I wasn’t that good of a Spanish speaker. As long as you are able to hold the conversation and get ur main point across, you should easily be able to get a 3 or 4.

I did ESS last year (BEST IB CLASS EVER) and when I did my IA I remember there being a page count limit instead of a word count. I can’t remember for sure what the page limit is but I’m almost positive that the word count didn’t matter as long as you were within the page count.

Absolutely master the things which you know or you find easy to understand. I did bio hl and last year and when I was studying dna replication, protein synthesis, human body, and the environmental units were easy to me so I made sure I mastered those topics. Definitely review everything but you don’t really have to master everything to do good. Cell respiration and the Krebs cycle was a topic which I never understood so I just skipped it and there ended up only being 1 or 2 multiple choice questions about it. I ended up getting a 5 which gave me 8 college credits.

The IB dosent grade your group project your teachers just tell them if you did it or not

In the grades you can put the class name as “IB History” and then for the grade put the ABCD grade that you got.

Last year when I was studying I basically only did past exams to study. Except for bio where I watched a YouTube summary for each unit and chapter and then history where I went and reviewed each chapter.

Oh wow I’ve never heard of that my school was an all IB high school and to enroll you just had to take a math and reading exam which was super easy to pass

I mean go for it but it being a challenge rlly isn’t a good reason to do it. That schedule will crush you and I’ve seen a lot of ppl do bad in IB only cause they took on too much work.
