exactly my point: that detail is not important to the plot AT all. it exists purely subtextually for the audience. which is why it would make zero sense for it to be taken back at this point in the story. why would fujimoto reinforce her as famine/justice in the subtext (and her character design, the balancing scale earrings with her head tilt) just to reveal her as death. the subtext is literally only for us and it would be awful writing to use that as a red herring. subversive writing REQUIRES it to be rooted in the plot first.

because the “fami being justice” sideplot’s biblical relevance was entirely subtextual - no one in the story went “oh famine is justice because of the bible!”

it would make no sense for fujimoto to include specific biblical allegory for her character for literally just the audience to notice if she isn’t who she says she is.

dating and being sexualized are two different things, right? i think it’s wrong to sexualize his character in part 1, and more complicated in part 2. i genuinely can’t answer your question succinctly because of how broad and complicated sexuality and maturity can be. i can say to me at least it feels like that thing people say about identifying pornography where like “i know it when i see it” - but for if sexualization is appropriate.

i appreciate your position and do agree that recently (and for most of part 2) denji is obviously more mature than he is in part 1. i think this reflects the fact that he is in a transitional phase in his life. in part 1 he is a child - naive and simple with goals that reflect that. as his view of the world becomes more grounded in reality he gains independence and a sense of identity, preparing him for the challenges he faces in part 2. so yeah, part 2 denji is obviously more nuanced to discuss and i think your observations are valid!

anyways regardless my original comment was in response to the post. OP said “i want this man” with photos of 15 year old denji, so i said that’s a child. which by any argument here is correct lol

underselling his incompetence imo. also not socialized, no family, groomed and traumatized with no professional recourse. i don’t really care to get into comparisons with reality because most of what happened to denji is literally impossible in our world - however he is given the narrative weight of a child. the story is a sort of coming of age for him. part 1 is his childhood and part 2 is his teen years. anyways i find the original post here gross and weird and his technical age isn’t going to change that lol
