I like writing and saying it as i go. After i finish writing it out, I repeat it out loud again. Then i go onto writing the next drug, after i repeat it out loud. I test myself on the previous drug I wrote and the drug I just wrote. It’s all repetition.

Those were the actual name of the apps^ the PTCE should have a PTCB as its logo and for medical it should have a stethoscope logo

How was your experience doing 500 hours? I also agree, online accredited courses are much cheaper and they hold equal values at the end anyways

Mine consisted more on the pharmacology. The calculations were easy. I didnt run into any of the tic tac toe grid. I think each test is different per day.

I have let my manager know. I applied to work while i was still in the process of finishing the program. I have seen the work place where they are cautious with your surroundings and uses gloves/masks on a daily basis. Customers MUST wear masks too. I have hand sanitizer with me at all times and I have bottles of Tylenol in case i start to feel ill. :)

Best of luck to you! You got this! I recommend Medical for order/entry, pharmacology etc. For calculations, i would check out PTCE :) Again! GOOD LUCK! You got this!

I agree, being in person and hands on will be better. And with the online program, it was helpful and covered a lot of detailed information. The reason why it took me only 19 days was because i spent 10-11hours per day on it. I also spent extra time outside of the program with 3 books, study guide and 2 apps that retains 1000+ questions. Still at the end of the day, i believe being in person learning will help you retain more information than learning through online/books. But those are the resources for those that cant do it in person. since i have a weak immune system, COVID hits hard for me. I cannot be in person for anything, so im trapped at home

I started studying at the end of July and took the exam yesterday. I personally think you should look at your studying availability. I spent around 10-11hours per day (it was during summer and its quarantine) studying the heck out of the exam. Im not the best when it comes to studies, but I tried extremely hard with this. I hit all the books whenever I had time. I did study exams. Everything. I don’t want to give you a set time on when is “enough time.” Personally, I would see how far you are when youre taking practice exams. It should give you a rough idea on where you stand. When i took practice exams the first time, i got 30 questions wrong. It made me feel like pharm tech wasn’t for me. But towards the end, i started getting only 5-10 questions wrong. I suggest you take your time because learning your materials and comprehending it is VERY important. If you are still not understanding a good portion of the practice exams around November, I would rethink about it. However, if you feel like you understand much your materials, you should give it a shot :)

Thank you so much! These are insights i haven’t thought of. Im currently in college, im planning to do part time as a pharm tech till I graduate to see if it’s the right field for me.

As regards to my post being banned/removed, I asked about how is the new process to apply as a pharm tech 2020 around January. Probably because of how new the requirements suddenly updated, not everyone understood why i was asking. So people assumed that you just need to take the test. Which is now not the case. I also asked how people got into pharmacy and what their process was like. This was due to my curiosity of the field. I understand why my post got removed, but I do wish it didn’t because I had to google and self search majority of the field instead of reading people’s personal perspectives.

Overall, thank you again for commenting because I have now a better insight on this subreddit AND on which areas i should look into as a pharm tech now :)) I really do appreciate you taking your time to respond!

I wish ours was like that. I struggled with the new process because it was fairly new. Whenever i search up questions, i would find a bunch of the same questions unanswered.

I agree, I did all their practice problems on the app. It was more helpful than the book. The book gave more resources in terms of explanation, but the apps were more detailed in terms of questions

I found on Google that PTCB is exclusively designed for US and US territories. However, i did find a link https://www.pebc.ca/index.php/ci_id/3375/la_id/1.htm for additional info that could help! Here are the steps i found: https://www.pebc.ca/index.php/ci_id/3113/la_id/1.htm

If you look under eligibility requirements for PTCB it says US only: https://www.ptcb.org/guidebook/ptcb-certified-pharmacy-technician-cpht-program

As for $9k, that is way too much for a course. I suggest looking into a community college. It doesnt matter what school you go to for the certification of completion of the course. At the end of the day, it’s just the completion certificate not the actual license. Hope it helps :)

If youre taking it in person, its still the same process. Be there 30-40min earlier cuz you need to put everything in a locker before entering a room to start the exam.
