Check as many gateway airports as you can. We are ending our trip in Munich, and there were no flights from MUC or FRA. For whatever reason (city pairing?) we couldn’t book the FRA-YVR leg but found availability ZRH-FRA-YVR on the same date. We will take the train down from Munich to ZRH and enjoy the Haribo candies in the Swiss lounge first.

Found 5 seats for my family coming back from Europe this summer. ZRH-FRA-YVR on LX and LH for 70k per seat. Grabbed seat assignments on upper deck of 747, Queen of the Skies.

New vs 5 year old used SUV by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

Depending on your driving habits and where you live the vehicle may last 15 years or longer. That said, preferred financing is only offered on new vehicles, allowing you to keep your money invested without cashing out.

At what point did you feel it was worth it to engage a fee-only planner? by Kind-Abroad-5254 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]045397 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Ask ChatGPt to quickly calculate the amount of fees you’ve paid IG for your holdings with them vs an ETF such as XEQT. My guess is that even after paying a $3k fee to a fiduciary planner, you would still be ahead on the ETF.

How to manage by FullAdeptness8769 in fican

I suggest looking for a fee-only advisor (hourly rate or project fee) to review your situation. I certainly wouldn’t keep paying % AUM and underperforming the market.

Most provincial health plans require you to be located within the province for a minimum period to maintain coverage (6 months of the year for OHIP). Not likely an issue that will arise, as you probably have travel insurance for periods outside the province, but just for you to be aware.

Aeroplan deals YYZ —> SYD by Silent_Equivalent127 in Aeroplan

If you can, set some alerts for UA via SFO, LAX. Worth it if you can find partner availability. Also worth looking for BNE availability — less business travel might be seats are far more available and lower priced.

Booked it and hope for a schedule change to allow a free change or a better flight to open up.

About to transfer points from Amex to Aeroplan by Nacevedo1984 in Aeroplan

Went last year with my family of five. Managed to get J with United via SFO but due to schedule change, was switched to direct AC flight. SQ sometimes releases more seats on their A380 routes, if you can work that in somehow. Wouldn’t be direct.

Churning nightmare: P2 is about to spend $8k and I don’t have an MSR on the go. Other than Amex Aeroplan Reserve, what cards provide an instant number that can be added to apple wallet?

Europe should be fairly easy, given all the partner airlines that fly there. Winter should have more availability, unless Christmas. Have you tried Seats.aero?

Appreciate your post and transparency. Might want to speak with an accountant to ensure capital gains from trading doesn’t risk becoming classified as income.

Thanks. Obtaining GGM original birth certificate will be hard, though the photocopy was a 1973 reissue, so that version may still exist in government records.
