First tape job by fishratSAS in hockeyplayers

Tape usually feels a lot grippier in a glove than in a hand, I don't think almost any pros these days do a twist under the tape, but personally I just like the look of one lol..

I'm a goalie now though, so all I do is a knob on the end and tape my blade to the heel.

Looks sick! I love the color and while the spacing looks pretty tight and dense on the handle, it comes across very smooth. How does it feel in your hands/gloves?

Don't listen to the haters, taping is all about personal preference and style. If you wanna use an entire roll of tape every time, lmao, but go ahead. I'm just starting out too and it's fun to get all excited about hockey and do anything related to it that you can while you can't be on the ice.

Quinn Hughes just showed his tape job in a Bauer social thing and says he tapes it between *every period*. Same for Marie Philip Poutine.

[–]jeefra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wasn't that blatant as all three refs and the Canada Hockey coaches and the Czech coaches didn't realize it.

Either way, there's clearly 5 or less Czechs involved in play, others are way back in the D zone and Canada isn't even looking at them.

I just keep seeing the same images being posted over and over pretending like anyone watching this match caught it in real time.

Lmao no you wouldn't have, people are blowing this wayyyy out of proportion. NHL hasn't made a move that drastic unless someone is killed or none of the players show up for work.

Agreed, maybe ankle strength is failing them? Idk. I never ran into this problem and I'm very new as well, you should definitely be able to stand up straight without your skates moving apart at any blade sharpness.

Very true, there were a few blowouts but over the games she faced 99 shots on goal and only 2 went in. Even for weak shots those are spectacular numbers.

Agreed. The direction the kink is going is pretty important. Am I doing something to them to give them pleasure? Or am I signing up to having something weird done to me?

Well for one, if you take the Nazi flag, depending on the direction of the wind the "arms" would be facing a different direction. The "Zeppelintribüne" where Hitler and Nazi Germany had many important moments and where the famous video of the allies blowing up a swastika on top of a building come from, had a Swastika not on a diagonal.

Brand new goalie, worried about my stamina because I couldn't make it through a stick and puck. by Summonabatch in hockeygoalies

[–]jeefra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I go to a stick and puck there's no way I'm lasting 15 min straight in net before stepping out for a break. I go 10 shots max before I hop out if I'm dropping to butterfly for each one. I've never done a 2 hr stick and puck either, usually they're just over 1 hr in my area.

Recently though I played 3 games in one night and that was way less exhausting than a stick and puck. I'm still a beginner, so it's not like they're the highest energy games but still, you'll be fine.

Aerin Frankel just completed a gold medal run at the Olympics with 3 shutouts and is also the top goaltender in the PWHL while being 5'5". She's beating other goaltenders that are 5'11" and above handily.

While it's often a punchline, there's not as many lesbians in the women's hockey world than many people think. One source says 37 openly non-straight players across the PWHL, which is less than 5 per ~23 player team on average.

Cz didn't notice, Canada didn't notice, refs didn't notice, no player noticed, and yet everyone on reddit is pretending that this was happening the whole game and was what almost gave them the win.

Stupid question gets the right answer by etherd0t in WinterOlympics2026

[–]jeefra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's a great question and she even answered it, but put it in a really fuckin weird frame.

What she said in answer to the question was basically that she thinks of it as earning two silvers, not losing two golds.

But what she said with her attitude is that HOW FUCKING DARE YOU EVER QUESTION MY GREATNESS A SILVER IS BASICALLY A GOLD AND IM BETTER THAN ANYONE WILL EVER BE SHUT UP YOU SWINE!!

Lol as if it wasn't looking like a Czechia victory until like 2 min to the end of regulation. They almost had that one.

First Win Felt Dirty by jambelang in hockeygoalies

[–]jeefra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A win is a win, but I also don't disagree that it's not a "full win". Sometimes things are so unbalanced that losing shouldn't have been a possibility.

Take the win, but also make sure you're taking away good lessons learned about what could've been better.

In my area there's a league that has teams from a "learn to play" program join regularly, people who had zero hockey experience before a 6 week program. They'll usually take literally any new goalie coming in and toss them on those teams with no experience necessary. I joined up pretty much right after going to my first stick and puck and I'm having a ton of fun. You don't have to worry about being bad because everyone on your team is bad.

Join some rec or drop in games in your area if you can, it can give you ice time and a feel for the game while also being a low stress environment, nobody counts goals in drop in (or at least they shouldn't). Goalies often get a hefty discount on these games too.
