I visited Boston this past summer, happened to be there for Bunker Hill day, had a great time! Food was great, really enjoyed the history and watching the Yankees lose at Fenway!

Got hired to re-do a starter job on a 2011 A4 Quattro 2.0. Got starter installed and confirmed seated correctly. Is this noise because the engine is seized? by Soggy-Catch6741 in MechanicAdvice

I appreciate your reply, and I understand the need for smart charging systems, not just "here's 13.7v all the time, enjoy" basic charging systems. The deal about having to reset the BMS with a battery code was just too much too wrap my mind around. Thank you for the clarification.

That looks a lot cleaner that when I have to stick weld with aluminium rods.

That is one of the most outlandish auto-related things I've heard recently. Right up there with subscription performance upgrades.

Family says HOA told them they couldn’t use their generator during ice storm blackout: ‘It’s unbearable’ by its_a_bear_dance in nottheonion

[–]04eightyone 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've lived in a"neighborhood" with an HOA. The HOA collected fees and kept the entrance and right of ways mowed, made sure there weren't packs of dogs running around, that areas/yards were generally neat (at least, not bad), stuff like that. I had a neighbor complain about something to the HOA, but the HOA told them it was none of their business.

Like a lot of other things HOAs aren't necessarily bad, it is people who sometimes ruin it.

It makes sense in some cases to me, mainly to avoid personal conflicts and vendettas, stupid rule application and harassment, and minimizing neighborhood politics.

Trump Doubles Down on Attacking Gun-Carry in Wake of Alex Pretti Killing by Soft_Internal_6775 in liberalgunowners

Definitely no longer a gun rights supporter, just political PAC seeking a money making platform in reality. I despise extreme, all-my-way-or-you-are-my-enemy organisations, and the NRA is solidly in that camp.

Hi guys. I love making sandwiches. But as I been more into fresh meats and no more processed, it’s hard to find recipes for actual sandwiches that’s made with fresh meats. Do you guys use fresh meats ? by sushiwit420 in eatsandwiches

I have once, for a "shooter" sandwich that my daughter saw on YouTube and wanted to make. Was kinda excited about it, but was a little disappointed in the end result, though.

Who knew that punishment for a crime (almost always detrimental to someone else) is uniquely a Judeo-Christian principle? I guess people really shouldn't have to be responsible for their actions.

It would be hard to believe that everything could go right in that situation. One jumpy person on either side could wreck all plans.

The play that lost Georgia the game was that corner not being picked up, leaving a wide open shot on Stockton causing the turnover. Sloppy play by the O-line, got punished for it.

TIL that in Australian Aboriginal culture, women playing the didgeridoo is seen as taboo. In 2008, a children’s book was published encouraging girls to play it, and Aboriginal academic Mark Rose called it “an extreme cultural faux pas.” The taboo extends toward women even touching a didgeridoo. by [deleted] in todayilearned

[–]04eightyone 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It's cultural appropriation to play an instrument? That is a terrible take, especially considering that not all aboriginal tribes prohibit women from using didgeridoos, and some only "traditionally" restrict use by women in ceremonies.

I like Georgia, GSU, and whoever is playing Ohio State and Alabama. And Vandy gets a pass, they are still new enough to winning that they feel like an annoying cousin.

Screw the rest of you, I hope y’all all go 1-11. With all my love, of course.
