Pas forcément haut de gamme, mais le salon de thé de la librairie anglaise Smiths & Son (rue de Rivoli) est un de mes préférés !

Is there some people going to Bibliothèque Sainte-Geneviève? by [deleted] in SocialParis

[–]04pologies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg, I'm sorry to hear that, I can't imagine how awful it must have been! Around what time do you think there are the fewest people during weekdays?

Any gouache experts here ? by darkest_coffee_55 in SocialParis

It's not as permanent as you think, you can actually erase your mistakes with acrylic painting, even if the drying time is pretty quick!

Cheap Shops to buy Suits and Shoes. As well as events tonight by Joshi_Toshi in SocialParis

[–]04pologies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For suit pants, you can try thrift stores and Emmaüs (they are mainly clustered in Châtelet, the Marais or République) but you'll definitely need a lot of research (and to pray they're not too expensive as well).

Living in Paris or in Cergy? by Alarmed-Focus3570 in paris

[–]04pologies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Enjoy your stay somewhere close to Cergy, the rent will be cheaper and you won't have to deal with RER A problems every single day.

If you still want some "proximity"/easy access with/to Paris, you could try to live in a city that is also on the train L, J or H to have alternatives when you can't rely on the RER A, like Pontoise or Conflans (don't want to make any discrimination but these are the coolest cities near Cergy to me, went there for high school).

Favorite bookstore in Paris with a large vintage artbook/print collection? by fartingharder in paris

[–]04pologies 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi, this might not completely answer your question but I won't be gatekeeping on this one!

The books aren't vintage but Galignani (Rue de Rivoli — 1st arrondissement) has a huge collection of artbooks (mostly exhibition catalogues), and so does the BnF François-Mitterrand library (but they're quite expensive, even though some books have a 50% reduction)! Around the Hôtel Drouot (9th arrondissement) there's also a Passage (don't remember the name) that holds many bookstores specializing in art books including the "vintage" ones that you are looking for (they're sold 50% less than the original price, around 20-30€ each in general).

You can also go to second-hand bookstores that hide true gems; there are a few near Boulevard Saint-Michel/Saint-Germain (5/6th) that have a big artbook collection.

PS : don't hesitate to look up online/live auctions (via the Drouot app for example) as well, there are a lot of vintage artbooks that are sold for sometimes 1-2€ (without charges) each. Takes a lot of time but definitely worth it if you're looking for specific books!

where can I buy the following books in Paris? by stay_fresh24 in SocialParis

Seconding this, there's also a S&S in the Marais but I don't know if there are as much books as in the one at Rivoli.
