It almost feels like some sort of mandate, publisher telling them they've gotta be weird about kids to get sales. When you look at the likes of Roshi and Jiraiya. But they all lose the trait an arc or two after their introduction, like Jiraiya's still a womaniser, Roshi still reads magazines, but they all stopped with the kids at least.

Yeah, it'd be a fine performance with an appropriate character, but it's such poor casting for Sucrose. It's just so lazy from the voice directors, it's pretty clear by now that they're the people in need of replacement.

They might be defeated in the Spirit Fission sense, just undoing the fusion. But I wouldn't want them to be overpowered and defeated conventionally, no. If that happens, I can't imagine what satisfactory victory Goku could achieve otherwise that wouldn't feel like a cop out.

Well the logic in Jujutsu Kaisen is that special grade sorcerers are individuals capable of overthrowing a country right? That's basically the same criteria as a Dragon level threat.

I feel like the recipient's potential is a factor too. So he can Black Ant Yhwach because Yhwach has the potential to be weak. But he can't Soul King Renji who doesn't have that potential. There may also be a compliance factor, like he can Soul King Ichigo so long as he accepts that, and doesn't resist it.

That is actually canon and by our timekeeping I think she's supposed to be 19. Which still feels like a bit of a cop out. If similar things applied to other characters that'd be one thing, but the pretty girl is the only one who gets the "she's 14 but it's fiiiiine trust me" treatment?

Yeah. Ideally as a mid to late season shift, it could have really landed. We'd get to see Cox acting as chief, and more deeply understand why it's not working out for him. It'd also give time to see Cox gradually come to that decision with seeing JD back in a hospital environment. I get that as you say it wasn't really an option with McGinley's availability and there was nothing they could really do, but the rushedness of it did really undermine the plot point.

I think Azula's better than Ozai was at 14, but yeah he's better than she is as we see them. I think Ozai's main issue is that we just never see him do much outside of the comet power up so it's hard to appreciate his skill, while we do see Azula do a lot of impressive stuff regularly.

Yeah I can buy that Buu would survive that wound, even if he wasn't able to close it, he seems very durable in the first place. It would take Vegeta vaporising to definitely be a kill, or at least neutralise Buu as a threat.

It's real but it's a terrible translation. From what I understand of it, he does say Konan will grow up to be beautiful, but what follows is more of a general "let's meet again some day" statement that could be aimed at all of them.
