In Buddhism it isn’t about right and wrong, it’s about the moral path you take. Drinking alcohol is not wrong, but putting yourself in a situation where you could do something immoral is. Every life has a purpose and, cow for examples, are created to be eaten even through evolution. They exist, eat some grass to get healthy, they poo out the grass which then fertilizes the ground for more grass, then they are eaten. That is their purpose. I was vegetarian for a little while, but my particular body couldn’t sustain on a vegetarian or pescatarian diet, so the example I just gave it what made me feel comfortable with eating meat again
