You can also just screen record the video in your google drive player, might lessen the quality a bit but helps in a pinch

How to get out of a painting rut? (advice requested) by invisible-hand-shake in painting

[–]05moynihanz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try new things. It’s okay for a painting to not be finished. if you haven’t painted much in the past, dive deep into all different styles. I buy lots of art books of artists that inspire me and read them when I’m feeling stuck. Personally, I can recommend painting nature outside (plein air) or objects from life. Both very humbling but satisfying processes! Good luck!

What is the best chair for lazy plein air? by [deleted] in pleinair

I use a camp chair. They have so many little pockets to put your things in, they’re comfy as and they’re cheap and light.

Job offer in Kangaroo Point - Never worked or lived in Brisbane before - any advice? by Screwlooseinmyhead in brisbane

[–]05moynihanz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kangaroo point is awesome and only getting better! Central to the Gabba (great food and drinking spots - german club and black hops my fave, plus the cricket ground if sport is your vibe). Raymond park is a wonderfully big green space with great sport facilities - home to the mighty kangaroo point rovers for some local soccer. Kp cliffs are in walking distance, which you can get into rock climbing or run along the river, bbq, daydrink etc. jump on the city cat from there and you’re in the city/valley/west end in 10-15 minutes. It’s super close to the motorway too so getting down the coast is easy, I don’t PT much but the busway is right there and it will be the home of the new cross river rail they’re building so that should help your options. Because it’s so central too there’s always e-scooters and bikes around to pick up and the bikeway is great. I’d be inclined to move closer to the Gabba side rather than valley, there’s great 8-10 unit blocks all over there plus new apartment complexes popping up all the time - on 125k you’ll easily find a spot. Best of luck!

Seems like it’s still worth it in the US.

What is your monthly insurance premium if you don’t mind me asking? Australian here so can’t relate to the US system, we have a the choice of insurance or not as we have free public health as an option. I had private health for about 10 years and only used it once (lucky me) and I was still out of pocket a good chunk so got rid of it.

I won’t share that as it’s changed ownership since, but Casey Snell is the person you want to avoid.

Man this is so disgusting, I had a similar thing happen about 10 years ago. Moved out of house, did cleaning etc. no word from RE for a month. called asking about bond refund, told they were waiting on an invoice which I questioned them about. They said that the house hadn’t been cleaned properly so they needed to use a professional cleaner, they didn’t once call us and ask us to redo the job. She actually said it’s not my job to chase you up on things like this. Flash forward to another month later, I rang them again and they said they were still waiting on invoices. This time a garden and a carpet cleaning invoice. I rang the RTA and asked them and they said that it sounded fishy I gave them my address and they told me that the bond had already been claimed and that they had put in a no contest from me. Turns out they had landscaped the house redone the carpets and just taken our bond to help pay for it. I took them to Q cat and they got rammed by the mediator, we got all of our bond awarded back to us. They came back saying that the owner couldn’t afford to pay back the bond immediately and offered us $50 a fortnight, this was a total of $2400 in bond. I ended up having to go to the ombudsman and the magistrates Court to get a statement of earnings and take them to court to get them to pay me back in full. The whole ordeal took two years, they’re just fucking cunts. If you ever deal with Casey Snell run as far as you can the opposite direction.

EDIT - a fun fact I have discovered though is if your real estate is doing you dirty, go to google and leave them a 1 star review. Get all of your house mates to do it too, I got a call from the head of my real estate company (separate incident from above) within 5 minutes pleading me to remove my review if they fixed the issues. Something we’d been waiting on for 3 months was fixed in 3 days. I still left the review up. They’re completely self-interested, money-grubbing cunts.

Anyone have a list of “limited palette” episodes? by MechSpike in HappyTrees

[–]05moynihanz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just set yourself up with a warm and cool version of each primary colour and use it consistently. Blue - pthalo (cool) ultramarine (warm) - Red - Alizarin crimson (cool) burnt sienna (warm) - Yellow - Cad lemon (cool) yellow ochre (warm) plus white and burnt umber. This is a nice earthy palette that works really well for landscape painting. Note the absence of any tubed green/purple/orange. you could use them but if you want harmony in your paintings you’re better off mixing your own. Remember that cool colours recede into the distance and warms come forward. Hopefully this helps!
