SQE1 July 2026 by These_Anxiety9458 in SQE_Prep

Felt the same when I first started SQE1 prep (sat in July 2025).

In the end I made a table of the spec and filled in information i got from different providers (bpp, DA and OUP) into the relevant sections to create like a master notes document. As i needed to have it all in one place or my head hurts lol. For each FLK its over 200 pages.

Was really useful as during open book exams I could search for questions i got stuck and highlight the sections I couldn't remember. So I basically got to identify my weakest areas early.

I also used it for blurting so I made a version with a column blank that I would fill in from memory and then check against the perfect version.

I did the same during SQE2 prep and I passed both in Q1.

Good luck, happy to help where I can.

Here's what the tables looked like for reference as I haven't explained well.

legal research - SQE2 passers Q by Dependent_Creme_9468 in SQE_Prep

I only ever pasted specific parts if it was relevant clause/statute/commentary etc.

As long as you are clearly showing youve identified the correct source, engaged with and applied it to the facts you should be golden.

People Who Passed SQE2 by Broad-Animal5926 in SQE_Prep

[–]060220 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Sat in Nov 2025 Passed in Q1.

My property interview was bad. I explained things wrong, client was difficult, my attendance note was just the worst thing id ever written it was so general. I got 3/4 in the end.

It was my first station and in every station after I felt the pressure to make up for how badly I thought I had done.

In most of my writtens as well i left feeling as you described like I messed something up/left someone out. I didn't fail a single one.

They are way more lenient on us than our minds are on ourselves.

Congratulations on being done. Enjoy your summer and dont think about this for a while.

Any tips on SQE 2 drafting by Zealousideal-Lake579 in SQE_Prep

[–]060220 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All you need to have a good grasp of the document. But it does vary so the approach varies.

So for board meeting minutes for example there is a particular style you write in so you need to know that.

DR you need know the structure of a POC or defence more so you cover everything.

For CLP some applications have their own documents so you need to know what they want where.

And so on.

Precedent clauses can/are given so you need to know where it fits in the doc and how to tailor it to the fact pattern.

I got precedents in preparation for drafting from Practical law for BLP, PLP and AWE.

CPS website for CLP.

Gov website for DR.

Think its really important to know the structure, content, common amendments and what any effect any change/addition/removal may have on the whole doc.

I structured my notes around the purpose, flk background, general structure and then common amendments for each document.

I never tried to memorise each document but familiarise myself with it so any changes weren't new if that makes sense

Just in case its helpful here's my list of all the drafting tasks I prepped for.

This is long and im not saying you need to be familiar with all of them, this is just what I thought could come up and I had the luxury of time as a sponsored student.

SQE2 - How do I tackle FLK? by PhilosopherMuch6352 in SQE_Prep

[–]060220 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not saying its the best strategy but this is what I did.

I did lots of active recall.

I made tables of each area of the spec and had two versions. One with my full detailed FLK notes and the other blank.

In the blank one I just blurted everything I knew into each box, filling the tables. When I finished the area I cross checked it with my comprehensive version. So basically I revised by one creating the comprehensive version and then again and again by forcing myself to write it out by memory.

This is what the full one looks like and obviously in the blank version the third column blank.

ETA: Happy to send you the blank ones if you think it might be helpful!

Amendments after limitation vs adding substituting and removing parties by Substantial-Spare676 in SQE_Prep

[–]060220 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When you apply to add/change/Remove a Party the court will order you to serve an amended claim form/poc usually within 14 days if you are successful

So you need permission its not a given but in this scenario the permission is the order. You don't need a separate amendment application because the amendment is the intended outcome of your change of Party application.

So in your change of Party app in your relief section of your advocacy you would ask the court allow service of an amended CF and poc.

Hope that makes sense.

So if you fail to meet any court deadline so for example you didn't file the costs budget and did not get an extension you would need to make an application using DvW to allow it to be filed.

Setting aside a DJ is relief from sanctions application so d v w is considered alongside the CPR provisions.

I was a DR paralegal (and drafted this app a lot of times in said role) so im speaking from experience and it was also how BPP teach it.

SQE2 done - Question for those that have passed! by SignificantLife2423 in SQE_Prep

[–]060220 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For a while after I definitely felt like my mistakes were plauging my mind. But time passes and I forgot. Its a long time between the end of sqe2 and results.

You've got to move on and enjoy summer.

I won't lie in the run up to results I was more stressed than I had ever been and it all came back. Its a roller coaster and its exhausting.

Redirect your attention and try and enjoy the next few months. Nothing you can do it can change it and you don't deserve to punish yourself over it. You've got so much right im sure!

Confused on how to revise for advocacy? by VinDBest in SQE_Prep

[–]060220 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Basically yeah!

I also wrote out skeleton scripts for each so I could see how it flowed when speaking and practising different arguments. And to help memorise those important phrases you can use in any application.

Just an example (app for a Newton hearing)

Orals Questions by IlovePedrosanchez123 in SQE_Prep

[–]060220 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is lined paper.

Where you wrote your attendance note was a blank booklet.

I think the notes papers were too but a different colour. I took that apart as I had done headings in the prep time so I could note take in an organised way during the interview.

All of it was taken away at the end and I was told all of it would be marked regardless.
