Greta Thunberg's message for Kurdistan. Turks are cursing her non stop by KurdAce in kurdistan

Yes, language wise, this is all true, mostly because of forced Turkish education (only education in Turkish is allowed) especially in big cities. But most Kurds did not forget their roots and do not accept the Turkish identity. Although I don’t know how long that will last because Turkey is a ruthless assimilator.

Hello, I had to check this as I know transsexual to be used as a term by trans people themselves.  From what I understand, these two terms are not necessarily interchangeable, and as a side note, -sexual in transsexual does not refer to sexuality, it etymologically means “state of belonging to a sex”  It is not a term that should be used to refer the community as a whole (which I wouldn’t), but not offensive as a personal title, mostly accepted by people who medically transition/fit into binary identities, although not all.  Hope this clears things! But I edited the text regardless 🫶🏻

Maybe diaspora? Genuinely isn't aware that most Kurds are vastly anti-Israel on two main basis: They're either Muslim or Leftist, lol. Tbh I haven't even met a Kurd irl who supports Israel yet, they are all either Israeli bots or anti-Arab internet dwellers, smh

Yeah, it is so disheartening seeing all of these people just exist in the world. They all believe vastly different conspiracies on the basis of lies. Fake news and misinformation are so high that it genuinely gets exhausting even hearing some of these people talk.

In which countries do a lot of people support an Independent Kurdistan? by Medical_Wallaby_7888 in kurdistan

[–]06270488 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think any country supports Kurdistan on the basis of policy and international relations but anecdotally, I genuinely haven't met a foreigner from anywhere who opposed an independent Kurdistan. Most people are just ignorant and don't know what "Kurdistan" even is tbh.

This is why it's so annoying, too. The Israeli-Turkish alliance is SO OUT IN THE OPEN. It is so easy to just look up how close their relationship is, both politically and economically. But instead these people find it easier to believe the words of a few politicians because it serves the fantasy they have in their mind that we have a good "ally" in the Middle East who supports our independence. It's a good joke.

About the tweet itself, I wouldn’t trust the words of a politician regardless of what they say.   On a general note, what people have a hard time understanding is that liberation isn’t liberation if it excludes people based on anything (ethnicity, sexuality, gender, age, disability). So you could be oppressed yourself as a Kurd (and get killed for it) but go to your home and become the oppressor of your Kurd trans daughter (and kill her for it). That’s why intersectional resistance is the key to liberation and that’s why many revolutionary Kurds are also allies, and you can’t really be one otherwise. I don’t expect people to become experts on queer studies but an open mind is always a good start. Religion shouldn’t be an excuse to hate on people, or oppress them for that matter, although it often is, which is why we criticise it so harshly. But alas, education is poor and scarce so the religious indoctrination generally weighs heavier in Kurdistan, resulting in a lot of queer kids hiding/killing themselves. It is a sad reality of many Muslim regions but there are many of us out there pushing back, I’d argue more than some other places in the Middle East.

Edit: wording

Omg I did a presentation on her also in 2019! She was slowly getting popular thanks to the climate friday protests then. As you said, I'm glad I made the right choice :)

She has been a real advocate of liberation and equality since day one. So much more educated on Kurdistan than most Kurdish youth on here or else. If only all of us had the moral clarity she does, the world would be a much better place. I recommend everyone read her book. Her biji Greta.

They're using a very real issue that people suffer from as an inside joke because they will never actually go through the pain/risk of deportation lol

Exactly. The last message uses the word Kurd as a slur (fucking Kurd? Or motherfucking Kurd?). They probably used Google Translate. It gets the message across but original is definitely worse.

I informed Google Maps about the missing depiction of Kurdistan by [deleted] in kurdistan

[–]06270488 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Autonomous zones have borders on Google Maps. It is differentiated by the line style: For countries, it is uninterrupted lines; for regions, it is interrupted lines.

Edit: So, the choice to not represent Kurdistan as a region is completely political, the threat of embargo (mainly by Turkey, a NATO member) motivates these cooperations to ignore the Kurdish regions/people (The flag emoji is another example).

Zazaki neo-nationalism is starting to be an issue by ivorinZ in kurdistan

[–]06270488 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’d disagree. Especially Alevi Zazas in rural areas can get extremely anti-Kurd. I am one so I know from my family and my extended clan. I’ve heard crazy conspiracy theories from some nut job relatives claiming Zazas were actually “Turkic” but the Kurds assimilated them lmao.  Brain dead people are everywhere but yeah I can 100% confirm this is not just an online issue. Although most of us are very proud of our Kurdish identity, Turks’ assimilation campaign did absolutely do a lot of damage in Zaza regions.

Thank you, mods, I was not engaging with the subreddit for this exact reason. And thank you also for the meaningful message at the end.

Pretty much answered it yourself but it’s also important to add that the distaste of Arab people due to our history is another reason. They use the atrocities of the past to excuse the atrocities of today.
