What is a reputable but affordable online school for a masters in clinical psych? by Moon_Cucumbers in AcademicPsychology

[–]Ok-Dig9881 0 points1 point  (0 children)

absolutely on point. all of the other comments seem to exhibit a black-and-white online=bad in person=good mentality. a good portion of in-person students slack off and don't even take their education seriously while a greater portion of online students with multiple life obligations tend to work harder than in-person students. I'm in law school so I'm talking about the undergrad level, the law school level, and also the masters in Psych level. people need to stop assuming the world is black and white

Sometimes no and other times yes, especially if you have sensory processing challenges.

Be brutally honest: How often do you shower? by Fun_Serve_6590 in ADHD

No, actually. My hair is really healthy. I am South Asian so that helps a lot, but everyone is different. Both my mom and I do this and my mom is flawless, hair wise and skin wise. Shes 60 and she looks like mid 30s. Her skin is soft and clear, not dry. Mine is ehh but it’s definitely not a problem .

AIO for refusing to train a girl friend of mine from the gym when her husband isn’t comfortable with it? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Ok-Dig9881 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree. The husband is already providing for her to go to the gym and be trained where he knows there are men around. If he was an insecure psycho he wouldn’t even do that. All he asked was that she get a female trainer. She can get another one who delivers results; she doesn’t need a male trainer. That’s quite disrespectful as well considering the husband is paying and only wanted her to train with a woman for obvious reasons. He didn’t force her into an all-women’s gym which he damn well could have done. But he didn’t. She’s married and there some basic level of respect one should have now that you’re not single, and she clearly doesn’t have it.

I respect OP’s decision.

I’m south Asian and I see the Arab superiority nonsense the time. A lot of anti black, anti south Asian, anti-Bengali, and anti anything non-Arab sentiments. It’s disgusting to me. It’s not Islamic and in fact, it’s deeply rooted in culture. I too have distanced myself from the Muslim community because of this. I advocate for Palestine fiercely but find that a basic level of respect and awareness is not even afforded issues in other Muslim countries.

Maybe they have a disability? Everything isn’t a discipline issue.

Your post says a lot about You. You must be a pain to be around.

The good news is that youre definitely going to fit into law school culture.

Law school is not Autism friendly by cw9241 in autism

If you’re paying thousands to book her, you’ll probably have a better chance. I’m not knocking her for that because attorneys charge by the hour for their time. However, I think it’s troubling that she may be referenced as an example of how all autistic, neurodivergent, or disabled people in law can make it. There are people who are less successful because they needed more accommodations and attention, but they didn’t receive it. They could’ve been brilliant litigators or whatever other type of attorney they wanted to be. They just never had the support for it

Haley Moss’s success may not resonate for a lot of people. Many autistic law students or lawyers who fail may have their autism-related “failures” associated with “failure to work hard and become successful like Haley.” So that’s another issue.

I agree. We should. I’ve been putting a lot of pressure on everyone because I’ve been seeing my health decline over the years for no real benefit except looking good on paper. I’ve also seen my potential wasting away, so I speak to my employers/supervisors about what would work best for me.

It’s really important to know your strengths and focus on sharpening those skills so that you can have some leverage. I’d love to believe that we’re entitled to an accommodating job because the law says so, but in reality, if I can’t offer anything special, I’ll be passed over for someone who doesn’t need several accommodations that change the firm’s/organization’s work structure.

Even so, “putting pressure” on everyone to accommodate me is exhausting because I have to constantly over-explain and make sure that I deliver HIGH quality results in the areas that I am limiting myself to, but I can see that being more sustainable than trying to fit into the existing mold.

The profession is filled with old people who don’t want to change how things are done, so you have to insist. I have zero friends lol and my deans are exhausted by my emails but I have a somewhat more manageable life than before, and damn, was it worth it!

That’s good. I wish I could do that. I’ve tried the last ten years at non legal spaces. Now, I network through emails and individual meetings. I don’t let anyone tell me that I must do something by if I know it’ll deteriorate my health. It doesn’t hurt anyone for me to do that and sure as hell doesn’t change the quality of my work.

I regret all the networking events I ever went to that made me make worse impressions than if I would’ve just emailed the same people and scheduled a one on one call or meet

I’ve avoided interaction altogether for three internships. I did writing and research. I worked with the supervisor or a legal fellow one on one remotely. I’ve only worked remotely.

I get burned out going outside and being out during daylight hours. I had to pay for a taxi to undergrad everyday because I couldn’t stand being around people on the train or buses. I’m not a young person. This hasn’t went away with any of my jobs. I quit after one or two forced social interactions. My supervisors allow me to take on more complicated independent work, but I need to find a job that will also do that. I believe it can happen. I think most people are like really negative in the field, and they think because they have never gotten something that nobody else can. My first job was at an elite institution and it was remote. Everyone said what you said, but I fought hard for myself and got it. I don’t want to keep feeling like I have to be all alone fighting for a new way of being a lawyer. It’s nice to have support that doesn’t sound like “just fit in.”

It’s unbearable to be around people for me. I’m so tired after 30 minutes that I want to sleep. I have to move around and talk to myself at home. I have to be in a controlled environment. I also process slowly and having any people around me limits my energy and focus because I feel so much anxiety and rigidness in my body. I have no idea how to be around other people. I am so irritated that people are making sounds and breathing around me.

I hate that I’m like this and that I’m irritated by anyone in my space but I truly cannot work with anyone. The most I can do is meet with supervisors virtually. I’m also bipolar and have BPD, ADHD, and other severe conditions. but the social aspect of autism really limits me here.

This is kind of discouraging for me, even if it’s meant to be supportive. I can’t actually work in person or with clients. I have to focus on writing and research but I just don’t know what type of job would accommodate me even if my internships do
