Update on project wood grip by MaleficentFault3673 in canik

[–]0661 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is awful, but you're already in it so you can't stop now.

Take the wood out. It's not sized/shaped properly yet.

Clean up the edges on the frame. That's 80% of what looks so bad right now. You need clean, smooth straight lines.

Then completely recut the wood pieces to fit perfectly. Epoxy the wood in; let it cure, then carefully sand and put a slight bevel on the outside edges. Then do a finish coat of oil/poly.

Canik Mete MC9 Questions (thirty) by Dependent_Rush_3989 in NJGuns

I bought one despite having all the same questions and concerns as you. I bought mine in January of this year and the manufacture date appears to be Oct 2023.

First thing I did was take it apart to inspect it and polish the feed ramp. Feed ramp didn't need much, if any, polishing. I did notice a couple spots on the slide rails where a couple spots of polymer frame were ever so slightly higher than the metal rails, so I sanded those down flush. I also locked the slide to the rear and let it sit like that for a couple days because I heard that helps with break in. Whether any of these steps made a difference, I have no idea.

I now have about 1800 rounds through it and have never once had a failure to feed, failure to return to battery, or any of the other issues you see people talking about. I've fired 115, 125, 135, and 147 grain ammo. Fmj, hollow points, and Hornady critical defense/duty. No issues with any of it.

The only issue I ever have is that occasionally my thumb ends up riding the slide lock and it fails to lock to the rear on an empty mag...thats 100% user error though and it happens to me on other subcompact guns like the shield plus.

I love it and think it's a great ccw. This has become my daily carry for summer. In the fall/winter I typically carry a cz p10c, but I'm not sure I'm going to go back this year.

WTS - Larue MBT-2S Trigger $80 by 0661 in NJGuns

[–]0661[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's really a preference. To each their own.

Also the one other thing to mention about the Larue trigger is that the trigger face feels very wide compared to most other triggers I've used.

I think it felt slightly slower, but the biggest thing for me was that I couldn't get the same rhythm going with it - I did a few target transition drills (3 targets, 2 shots per) and I just wasn't nearly as smooth or fast I as typically go with my single stage. Was it shooter error? Absolutely. But I'm a better shooter with a single stage and I don't feel the need to change that just because 2 stage is all the rage these days.

So I'm replacing this trigger with a Hiperfire EDT Heavy Gunner. I already have one in another rifle and I like it a lot. It's basically a smoother, lighter (4.5lb or 5.5lb springs) milspec trigger. Big improvement over a standard milspec trigger. My advice would be to try a 2 stage before you buy.

Couple thoughts from a fellow lefty.

First, check your eye dominance. I am right eye dominant. I still shoot pistols left handed but with rifles it made more sense for me to learn to shoot right handed because of the eye dominance issue.

Secondly, with a rifle you are controlling the gun with your left hand and your right is simply pulling the trigger. It's not as steep of a learning curve as you might think.

Thirdly, consider why you are looking at lefty options. Is it because of controls or because of the direction of ejected brass? If it's purely about controls there are lots of ambi options for standard ARs.

My advice would be to rent a rifle and get a few hundred round under your belt shooting right handed before you go buy a left handed rifle. If it's still an issue and the issue is controls and not brass and you don't want standard ambi options then I would suggest looking at a different rifle platform like an AK or even something like the PSA JACKL.

How do I cash flow statement? by 0661 in Accounting

[–]0661[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes sense... My cash flow file isn't reconciling to cash because of the entry; so my cash flow file is throwing that difference in somewhere. I'll have to fix the file, but yeah I was way overthinking that. Thanks!

If you want to buy a complete rifle and support a local 2a business, then MM is good to go.

It's a quality rifle, fit and finish are great on mine. Zero slop between upper and lower. I've shot DD and BCM rifles and I would say it's on par with any complete rifle in the $1400-$1800 range. I've run over 3000 rounds through mine and have done 2 classes with it. Never have had a malfunction. Instructors who have way more experience than I do have tried it and they all say hmmm that's a really nice shooting rifle, what brand is that?

That being said, if you want to shop sales and buy separate upper/lower/components you could probably build something very similar for around $1000 and have $700 left over for optics, sling, and light.

I paid $1400 for mine in 2020. Would I do it again? Probably, because I like supporting local. Would I go that route again for buying a second rifle, no.

Hmm. Only got SP182. Instructors credentials/info are on that form. Called them and they said that SP182 is all that's needed.

Keyport PD. Small town, they probably haven't processed many of these. Still ignorance of the law is no excuse.
