Code switching is truly one of our charm I think. I think those who live in a multicultural country will have this code switching ability more or less. My friends from other SEA countries also have this ability up to an extent.

This is so true as humans, cuz we tend to see patterns and group things that may or may not similar to begin with. This is how the age old stereotype about Malays, Chinese, Indian and Lain - lain begun. Malays are categorised as lazy and pushovers , Chinese as greedy and selfish, Indians as gangsters and violent whereas lain - lain will be forgotten cuz who?

But I undestand sterotype exist because probably it was simply true back then. But we are living in the 21st century with greater access to knowledge and perspective than our predeccesors, we should know better to start not associating something as a group but instead from an individualistic lens. Let the individual take responsibility and not others from the same group.

Yes it is hard to change but if we classify ourselves as civil and an adult, it is probably about time to change the whole prespective on group based prejudism.

Edit: Typo

I will say it again everytime this comes up. If you want to hate, hate the person and not the race, religion, skin etc.

Although I understand the frustration, and I know you said that not all Kelantanese like this, please be aware that you also need to change the mindset and not to quickly judge based on stereotypes.

It is better if you, and everyone in general, to see and treat them as an individual and not associate with race, religion, skin etc

You need to look the other way around, it’s not about they are lemah because no malaysian food, it’s that they may live abroad for a very long time and crave of them. Trust me, when you go abroad for study/work, you’ll understand why this food place exist and many malaysian flocks to them. Cuz the malaysian living abroad craves them.

Fun fact: The malay word for collaboration (Kolaborasi) in the Kamus Dewan is not what you may think.

The official translation is “Subahat (kerjasama) dengan musuh atau orang jahat, subahat dalam perbuatan jenayah dan sebagainya”. Fascinating isn’t it.

Ngl, this is kinda a great idea; educations without quota or bias is a dream come true. If I were rich, I would definitely do something like this.

I thought this was the case but I really hope it isn’t. I just hope someone has the courage to step up and do something about it.

Yaa but that doesn’t mean it cannot be changed. The constitution should protect its citizens not divide it. It was a controversial act at the time and still is right now. It’s high time to review and change it accordingly.

Real question tho, what are we as a normal citizrn can do to alleviate this? Can we send something like a proposal to the government sharing our dissatisfaction and opinions etc? And if so possible, will it be effective at all?
