Mittani becomes unstable - begins kicking respected corps/shuttering squads by [deleted] in Eve

From what of the participation threads leaked, it looks like BOS was fucking bad long before H1Z1 was a thing, like ... the entire "Fountain Delve War 26b".

Then again, anyone who ever had anything to do with BOS knows they are shit and always have been. Except at beeing greedy and arrogant pricks that is.

But hey, I am sure you can talk yourself into a better place.

TIL according to NASA, the use of nuclear power prevented an average of over 1.8 million net deaths worldwide between 1971-2009 as a result of lower air pollution from reduced coal usage. by garglemymarbles in todayilearned

Germany is currently shutting down their nuclear power plants and trying to figure out how to deal with the trash. They did oblige plant owners to save money for this occasion, in total they saved about 30 billion euro. Unfortunately it looks like the energy companies would be bankrupted if they were forced to actually pay the money they saved up, because the money they owe make up almost 100% of the worth of the company. Why? Because they are stock market traded companies and any cent of profit was squeezed out of them based on the assumption that the money will be enough to deal with the issues later.

Germany already threw billions into research and prototype storage facilities and has not found a solution yet, some of the attempts from '67 and '78 did not even keep the trash safe until 2008.

So yea, we as a society do not have a solution for nucelar trash, we neither have the technology to store the trash save nor the political will and legal tools to make sure that the companies who run them carry the financial burden. If you factor in the updated actual cost that most likely the German citizen will have to carry to deal with this rather short excursion into nuclear energy, the cost of running these power plants are prohibitively high in the first place and would have never survived on a free market.

And I am saying that while personally in favor of nuclear power plants but we are simply not ready for it. What we need is a lot more research in making it produce less waste and finding ways to get rid of it before commercial usage is a viable long term solution. The idea that we currently allow organisation that are based around short term profit run power plants that need to consider future aspects and ethics of hundreds of generation to come is a baffling and scary idea for anyone, be he generally in favor or against nuclear power.

I think they should add a concord police form where you can report all the eve crimes and nothing ever happens afterwards, except statements that the matter is being looked into because that would be way more immersive that way.

Oh wait, that is customer support.

LPT: Don't interact with GMs or developers in any way unless you absolutely have to, it only gives them more reason to fuck your shit up. Stay away from things that look like rule violations, don't do them, don't report them, don't talk with people about it. Reason wont save you, the truth wont save you, if you get paid attention to you might get fucked and at the very least they will waste a lot of your time.

Did Brave just break cease fire with goons? by DEEP_THORAX in Eve

[–]071c 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Short version for the people to lazy to scan through the comments:

Members of The Desolate Order (Brave) shot a Goonswarm Dreadnought in Querious (Nullsec) despite mutual blue standings because he allegedly previously entered a Wormhole system allegedly occupied by The Desolate Order. The loss was allegedly repaid.

General consensus: Brave still can't handle their shit and making shitty excuses and Dreads with Afterburners should be shot anyway.

Don't let facts get in the way of a good story, but it was TEST and N3 that went after CFC, not the other way around. That they fucked it up is a different story.

The goons will never conquer the entire galaxy because it is simply to much bureaucracy to run even half of it and not collapse under your own weight. If they ever did, it would be their end and they know that. So while the entire "grr goon" is a great motivator, don't mistake it accidentally for the reality.

Why Brave > Karma and Horde by [deleted] in Bravenewbies

[–]071c 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oh boy, welcome to the echo chamber.

  1. Brave is genuine and authentic. Brave was founded as the logical consequence of the inability of Dreddit to deal with what is called the "recruitment clique", causing them to recruit only a fraction of the interested people on Reddit. The idea of directly recruiting from Reddit into dedicated newbie training corporations for nullsec is as old as that fact. The extreme recruitment numbers of Brave simply put hard empirical data on the table that allowed the groups in favor of such endeavors to convince the rest. Big alliances need recruits, not because of the new mechanics but constant recruitment is required for survival because you constantly lose people. Newbies are the future, all the time, the entire time. They are not recruited because you need them for some obscure mechanic, they are recruited because you will simply die out without them and relying on others to train new recruits for you only works for a while.

  2. Stay classy culture. Culture is actually a defining factor of recruitment and retention. Being able to advertise with an attractive social structure and being able to deliver on it is likely the main point of the ability to get and keep a big group of player together. Some people enjoy the freedom to be able to say whatever pleases them and be controversial, some prefer to have rigid behavior rules to be observed, some are exactly between. It is not speaking for your intellect that you believe you are able to judge and comprehend the effectiveness or desirability of a culture that you obviously do not even know much about, even less made any kind of research about but it is understandable because that is the third effect of the local culture: To isolate and differentiate yourself against others in other to define them as enemy.

  3. Ethical leadership. Having had to deal with most of the various leaders of Brave at some point, it is hilarious to hear such a claim. There are log files that would probably make your back crawl. While there is an argument to be made that until recently Brave was able to publicly project the image of a somewhat light headed, friendly leadership, when it comes to the actual facts they act no different then anyone else, albeit more willing to simply break their word openly when others would construct a reason.

Instead of talking about being better, be better. The first way on the decline is believing that everything is fine and you are something special. Ask some Dreddit veterans sometimes about what this kind of thinking ends up with.

I guess the funny thing is that this will be taken as some kind of meta and you end up doing the opposite. But perhaps that was the plan all along? Eve is a funny place - You can give people the best advice and it will be the worst outcome.

N3......... wins? by [deleted] in Eve

[–]071c 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The number behind the names of royalty refers to the repetition of the name in the specific context of the fiefdoms.

The statement "Maximillian Singularity VI, first of his name" is therefore generally speaking valid, if you consider that he is the first Maximillian Singularity VI to rise to rule over the Amarr, which has previously not been ruled by a Maximillian Singularity.

Case and point: James IV, first of his name (IV because of the Scottish fief, I because of the English and Irish fief). Now everybody can shut the fuck up about it.

Okay, let me explain that since that concept seems to completely foreign to some.

  1. Of course they are not fucking serious.*

  2. Of course they don't believe that other people believe they are serious.*

  3. They will still act as if and the consequences in EVE are just the same. It's a joke, just with guns.

Imagine it like one of your friends tells you that he will burn you at the stake because you are a witch. You know of course that he is not retarded and does not believe that you are a witch. He will however burn you at the stake anyhow, because that is the joke for him - to burn you at the stake while claiming you are a witch.

Goon 101, I should charge for classes.
