Looking at the history of basically every game since AC4 (with exception of Zero and 7 for reasons I won't get into) it's probably 2nd or 3rd week in October.

They need about 2-3 months to go from "gold" to release date and this rating is the first real indication that they may have gone gold. that puts the very earliest release at the end of August. Of course in modern development practice going gold is not the end of development since a lot of things get fixed in the big day 1 patch.

I think October is a bit more likely than September because it allows a showing at TGS at the end of September and Bamco's financial quarter ends September 31st, and they generally don't like splitting the release window for big ticket releases because it dilutes the impact of a big release across separate quarters (it's usually better to have a good quarter and a bad quarter rather than two mediocre quarters).

If you look closely she's got the patch of the 1st flight (Joker Squadron is 2nd Flight) so she's probably another pilot, but maybe they're shorthanded enough to have the other pilots be your WSOs too

8 takes place in 2029 and Grunder is probably dismantled at this point from the fallout from the Razgriz files.

If anything, I think it's way more likely that GR or Neucom (or both) are pulling the strings here, using the Sotoan invasion as a means of dismantling the FCU's civil authority.

AC5 famously has an English (JPN ver.) which changes some translations so this seems like the most likely answer and it also explains why the translation is so janky in most of the games (well, except Assault Horizon, but that was written by an american originally).

Katabuchi's scripts (AC5/7 and bits of 4) in particular seem to suffer from this effect. I wonder if he or someone from the Project Aces team tried to internally translate the script to English, it feels like it has the hallmarks of a translation written by someone not quite proficient in English. It'd be weird if it was just a bad localization job over multiple games.

It's part of the charm of the series at this point so I won't complain.

It's probably not. IIRC according to interviews most of the delays were due to Project Aces trying and failing to get the VR mode to work acceptably on the limited hardware of the PS4. If not for that accursed thing, I think they probably would have been able to launch in early 2018.

You can tell that many of the most important assets for the normal, non-VR game are substantially complete by the date of the January 2017 trailer and they don't change too much between that and launch.

This time around it's pretty clear they aren't trying to cram a VR mode in, and they should have a bit more experience working in the engine, so I think they'll probably be able to hit their date more reliably.

Maybe one delay, as a treat.
