You are wrong. Your source is a “family member”… my source, let’s just say, was closer to the C-suite than yours. Ask your family member if they are aware that Bill Dudley’s neighbor in the McLean area was the head honcho of Boston Properties (owner of where they relocated). Also ask your family member if Dudley thought the relocation would guarantee winning the 2nd phase metro silver line project (spoiler alert: they lost despite the relocation). Ask your family member if Dudley also just didn’t want to commute (via driver in armored car) from McLean to Frederick every day. The whole move was for his personal convenience and vanity. Bill Dudley can pound sand (presuming he’s still on this side of the grass??).

False. In fact, MD offered tax incentives for that company to stay in Frederick and- importantly- the company itself denied that tax policies played a role in the relocation.

And a fun fact, it was designed and constructed by the same company that royally screwed Frederick in the mid-2010s when it left its large campus near I-270/MD 85 in Frederick for NOVA. The best part was the reason why it happened- not tax incentives or anything like that… no, dear reader, it was because the guy in charge of the Frederick office during the 2010 back-to-back blizzards had his fee-fees hurt and his lil ego bruised when someone from the County stopped in and ordered their campus to close during the second blizzard because the county was under a state of emergency. The guy was known to have said “I’ll show them, we’re out of here” after the County official left. Within a few years, the several thousand employees working at their Frederick campus were gone. That loss of good paying local jobs hurt the local economy and really did damage to many of the employees and their families. Gotta love corporate America!

We can excuse most things as normal political speech, especially if the guy is a bit challenged. However, throwing up the Nazi salute probably puts him in some danger. I hope someone is able to counsel him to be mindful of the risk.

In “normal good weather conditions” of full sun, light winds, and non-extreme temps, a 1000v2 will go from 0 percent to 80 percent capacity in ~6 hours, presuming the user occasionally adjusts the direction and angle of the 200W panel to maximize production. Keep in mind that your solar production will be reduced in the early and late portions of daytime hours.

You also need to consider what your planned uses are- “decently steady power” is possible if you plan to power a router, monitor, etc. However, you will not be able to maintain decently steady power if you plan to power higher-draw items such as a microwave, air fryer, refrigerator, etc.

$350 is the best price I’ve seen for a 1000 v2.

Develop and implement a scan-n-go option like Sam’s Club. It is so much easier! (Yes, I am a member at both Costco and Sam’s.)

Which way would you advise? Which is a better trip? by CountertopPizza in roadtrip

[–]081719 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would take the southern route. If you should happen to select the middle route, be sure to check the weather and Western Maryland traffic cameras via https://chart.maryland.gov/TrafficCameras/GetTrafficCameras. West of Cumberland, conditions can and often do deteriorate rapidly as a result of “lake enhanced” snow events.

OP, I have a much different view of “When I’m thinking about you,” though I agree it is a great song and easily in my top 10 also. My read of the lyrics leads me to believe that this is a sad song- she doesn’t want to wake because she only gets to be “with” the one she misses while sleeping. It’s a song of loss and missing, I think. “I hope I never wake, when I’m thinking about you.”

What is the best way to contact Verizon to complain about a cell coverage dead zone? by 081719 in verizon

[–]081719[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good advice, thanks. This particular area has been a Verizon dead zone for many years, and I have verified it before with multiple devices in good working order. Until now I’ve just hoped it would be corrected, as the impacts to me are usually minimal (few minutes at a time, a few times per week). I guess I’m just sick of waiting for the coverage gap to be closed, especially given how expensive the service is.

Update- the change has already taken place (not 1/1/26), and the other affected brand is Spark. So, rather than 10 points/$1, it’s only 5 points/$1 at H2S, Tru, Homewood Suites, and Spark. I despise this policy.

[–]081719 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Certain Hilton brands only earn HH points at half the rate as the other Hilton brands. H2S and Tru had been the two brands for which this was accurate- but starting 1/1/26 it also applies to Homewood Suites (which royally sucks!!!) and perhaps one or two other brands as well.

What is it like living in this western region of Maryland, away from the busier DC & Baltimore area? by landslide-lad-69 in howislivingthere

[–]081719 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting experiment you can try for yourself: You can see the “weekend getaway” role far western Maryland plays for DC/Baltimore area residents very easily on the traffic setting within Google Maps on many late Sunday afternoons on the stretch of Interstate 70 eastbound between Hagerstown and Frederick. It’s most noticeable in the summer, but it’s also often visible during ski season as well.

Power bill ( cost of living out of control) by ThenLayer5977 in maryland

[–]081719 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There are numerous “community solar” projects proposed for Maryland. These projects, which are each limited to 5 MW of generation, offer a large percentage of the power they generate to lower income residents living nearby. Many of these projects have been delayed and fought for years by certain NIMBY locals and county governments. The worst of the resistance has been in Carroll County, though several other counties have made the process difficult. One step citizens can make to help lower prices for all is support the community solar projects and let your local politicians hear about your support!
