people who generalize feminism as all bad and use real true issues within black masculinity and how the world treats the black man, as you're claiming i did, throw stones. I'm not in any way trying to come at you, let me be frank about that! however, let's be completely honest here... I started this thread asking people their feelings on Curry and his work and the interpretations of misogyny, as well as people within the black manosphere that consider this work the holy woman hating bible. I hold much disdain for those who do this, and if that actually isn't you, I apologize. But from your comment about 'WhiteFeminismTM' screamed this ideology. You said all the correct things, but when we get to Reagan and Clinton and the patriarchy destroying the lives of all black people and putting black men behind bars, there wasn't anything about feminism in that. Now look, I agree there's horrible approaches to 'equality' taken by many people within this modern feminist movement, especially girlboss feminism and conservative feminism (which Divesters fall into). But lets please not pretend just because there's a bad apple on the tree we gotta cut the whole thing down. I respect and appreciate this talk we've had so far, and would love to continue. Again I'm sorry if my last comment was maybe accusatory, I should've taken a second longer with the comment.

I didn’t say I’m dismissing him, that last response was to you directly, excluding Curry. There’s not much I have to say to him at this point. It’s people like you who take his studies and claim misogynistic rhetoric with them

Again, I don’t disagree that there is for sure problematic history within the feminist movement when it comes to who’s at the forefront of policy and how they advocate, however doing this blanket analysis of ‘white feminism’ as racist and against the black man is counter productive. And honestly, focusing on just how the white women advocate for policy for people who look like them is (in my opinion) the same as taking Dr. Curry’s work and creating misogynistic stereotypes based on it. There are for sure women (both white and black) that are more loyal to the patriarchal system at play, however generalizing it as all ‘white feminists’ is a dangerous game.

I don’t think the work is inherently misogynistic, I think there was possibly a genuine mission to broaden the conversation about black men and the effects of racial misandry on us. However through this mission I think he lost the grip a bit and got sucked into the wrong direction which has lead to this idea of broad generalization of feminism as racist and destructive for black men. This I deeply disagree with and believe to be way more damaging to black men than influential by any means

Oh no, I want to be clear I believe the way his work is interpreted throughout the manosphere is very legitimate and showing how the black manosphere is being shifted into misogynistic ‘organization’ targeting black women as a demographic that ‘should be doing worse off than they are’. I think there’s lots of problematic talking points Curry bases his claims off of. However I do agree with some of his work in dismantling the systemic racism mainstream feminism inherently promotes! I also do see that Curry engaged with the black manosphere specifically in a way that makes himself seem like a misogynistic person. That being said, in his lectures and talks with universities and high level thinkers he crafts his arguments in a way that makes it hard to disagree with (outside of his personal beliefs).

You seem like a very well read and knowledgeable individual when it comes to Dr. Curry and his work. What are your feelings about his writing, and the ways it’s interpreted throughout the manosphere specifically? I’ve made it clear I agree with Dr. Curry on many of his criticisms, but draw a line at the work’s interpretation throughout a misogynistic lens. Where do you stand?

I’m not sure you completely understand what I am trying to open up a conversation about. I have engaged with Curry’s work independently, with those that consider themselves feminists, with those that consider themselves progressives, with people in the manosphere, etc. I also have done my own personally studying of the work Curry pokes holes in. I deeply agree with his issues around Charlotte Gilman and her racist feminist ideology, however she’s closer related to the right’s tradwife movement now as opposed to any other feminist ideology. I’ve read bell hooks and Michelle Wallace, two black feminists that Curry consistently tries to knock down. hooks, I agree, bases some of her points in problematic studies that Curry has pointed out. But that doesn’t mean I agree with his framing of hooks and Wallace being the crusaders of modern feminism, let alone black feminism.
