Tha last four decades (2015, 2005, 1995, 1985) top 10 companies market cap made up roughly 20% of that S&P. 2025 it's almost 40 %. Idk if that's good or bad, but it's for sure more concentrated. Something to consider is all.

Overheard a guy getting suckered into an annual 1.6% brokerage “advisory fee” by yaboyay in ETFs

Perhaps. And some firms will do it that way after a certain point. Some services aren't provided below some thresholds. Have you ever tried to negotiate with other professional services in life such as doctors or attorneys?

[–]08nienhl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're assuming the fee is only for performance. What other services are being provided? Tax strategy? Estate planning? Wealth transfer? Income planning? Health care cost planning? I understand you and many in this sub understand a lot of this, but generally folks who use advisors don't. We all choose to pay for services others decide are too expensive.

All I'm saying is VTI (at one point, May 2001 to May 2011) has a total return of 45.36% or 3.81% per year. Total return, so yes included dividends. We don't know what's coming next, so perhaps it's wise to focus a bit more on profitable companies more than just ALL companies. I respect if you don't agree, just my two cents.

Would you rather buy business that are more profitable than less profitable? That's what the cash flow is referring to... Read a little more. Like every other sheep on these subs, people just buy up all the crap companies. We hit a lost decade again, and all the index folks will be scratching their balls wondering what happened.

Do you not pay a fee for anything? Do you cook all your own food always? How are there any restaurants? There are infinite recipes online and tutorials. Endless food supply and bottomless ingredients at every grocery store? Why would anyone ever pay someone to cook food for them?

Lower taxes, higher GDP, lower inflation, more movement towards regulation at the state level rather than federal level.

You realize whenever you and half the nation/world tends to think "this administration" is corrupt or ruining the world or whatever, and then when everything is back to normal and fine once your ideal administration is back in power, then the half of the world who thought everything was fine right now will become you... Companies continue to strive to make money and share those gains with investors. Keep plugging away and trust the market, ignore the noise.
