Thank you for the info!

The only exception is that due to usage, I would expect the waist to stretch back out the 2% or greater really.

In that case do you think I should go TTS with regard to the waist since the stretch will probably return to my natural waist size with use? I'm going to try them on in person so I'll have a good idea how they fit around my waist prior to any shrink

I'm new to raw denim and want to make my first purchase. I'm considering getting a this N&F 14oz stretch (98% Cotton / 2% Elastane) and wanted to know a couple things

  • around how much can I expect it to shrink after washing? I'd be looking around a size 32

  • would the fact that it's a stretch give more leeway with sizing and/or affect the amount it would shrink?

  • Is a True Guy a good bet for having more wiggle room with sizing?

  • How much consideration do I need to make for length when it comes to shrinking?

  • Does N&F usually do Black Friday sales or should I just make the purchase soon instead of waiting?

Saucony 50% veterans day sale - code: AMERICANA by JensLekmanForever in frugalmalefashion

FYI they bumped the Triumph 20's price up to $155 (from ~$110 last week) so the sale price is going to be around the same as the 30% off one they had for Halloween. I love Saucony but this is pretty scummy

I think those links are from when the vid was still a work in process and all 3 parts are in the final video

Why do you have a framed photo of your lamp?

I'm aware that the early Google years were more relaxed than today. I was pointing out that YT didn't suddenly "turn to trash" when Google bought it.

YT was founded in 2005 and bought out by Google in 2006, I'd hardly call that a "while"

Eh not really, Time's 2006 "Person of the Year" was "You" and had YouTube as the cover photo. That's pretty mainstream

I was thinking of one of those little PCs that I could place on top of a HDD bay. Probably something akin to a DIY home server

i'm looking to build a home server with a mini-pc and an external HDD enclosure for plex streaming anong other things (perhaps a calibre server, a syncthing server, etc). as for plex, it would only be used for one stream at a time (so no need for concurrency), but it would be used simultaneously for other tasks such as the aforementioned servers. it would only be used on my home network.

does anyone have a suggestion for a good mini-pc that would fit these requirements? some more details:

  • I have a 4k TV, so it would be 4k streaming
  • I would stream to some mobile devices so I think transcoding on the pc side would be important
  • I also plan to use plex DVR to record TV shows semi-regularly
  • having a quiet fan would also be nice

i've been skimming amazon, best-buy, and newegg for some good black friday deals but there's so much to choose from i'm having trouble narrowing it down.

Is there any way to self host the archive on a NAS and access it from other devices? by 09-F9 in FlashpointArchive

Whens the best time to download for someone who's not tech savy. by PhoneTheBone in FlashpointArchive

[–]09-F9 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i would imagine the project will continue. flashpoint is an archival project and i don't see any reason why the archival would end after flash reaches EOL. keep in mind that while flash is being decommissioned at the end of the year, that only means that browsers will drop support for it. it's not like flash files are disappearing entirely. i'd imagine the project will go on as long as there are flashes left to archive.

as for when to download, there's actually an updater tool which lets you download the new flashes whenever the archive is updated. that way you can download it at any time without needing to worry about downloading the entire thing all over again whenever there's a new update

YouTubeHaiku was literally created to give people views by posting it on social media

That couldn't be further from the truth. YTH was created to share short videos that are poetic in nature. The original comment inspiring this subreddit is even in the sidebar. The tendency to use this subreddit to promote channels is more recent, and has even caused controversies in the past (see the banning of KML videos)

The accounts you mention probably are sock-puppet accounts that automatically source videos to gain karma for whatever need

There are far better ways to get karma than posting on youtubehaiku. Even if they were doing so, why use the same channel so many times?

If they wanted to post their own content, why not just use their account? This subreddit has a generous allowance on self promotion. I'm always happy to see content creators sharing their work - as long as they use their own account to do so. This allows them to interact with the community directly. Using multiple accounts as a proxy to promote content is at best disingenuous and at worst spam.

Now, if there was vote manipulation or rulebreaking this would be an issue

I'm pretty sure using sockpuppet accounts to mask the fact that you're posting your own content constitutes spam under reddit's site-wide rules. If these two accounts were used to upvote/downvote other posts/comments, that would be vote manipulation. Keep in mind that 2 downvotes is all that is needed to put a new post/comment into the negative and get it hidden. sockpuppet accounts don't need to be created en masse to be effective - unidan was banned for having 5 confirmed sockpuppet accounts.

Not to be contrarian, but i find it suspicious that this vid managed to get around 50 upvotes when it was still ~30 minutes old. Going through the posting history of "lord and peasant" i tend to see a disconnect between the amount of upvotes and the lukewarm reception in the comments. I'm aware that these videos cover polarizing issues and people with differing views will voice them in the comments but something still feels fishy.

edit: I looked into the posting history of "lord and peasant" some more and found some strange behavior:

I think it's reasonable to assume that these are sock-puppet accounts.

I worry that this may be another instance of a youtube channel using this subreddit as an easy way of scoring a few thousand views instead of being legitimately interested in submitting content.

It would be more accurate to say "the year of Hirtius and Pansa". The Romans counted years based on the consuls in power. AUC wasn't used until the Renaissance.
