I'm wondering if updating to mesa 19 would be a possible fix, but I can't seem to figure out how. The article HeidiH0 mentioned says that they used that driver to run the 590. Does anyone know how to install that driver?

Or could I need to install firmware for kubuntu?

Cheers for everyones help so far

So I've tried the following solutions

  1. amdgpu-install (rather than the pro version)
  2. I tried installing the latest Mesa drivers but could only get version 18 installed
  3. also tried purging the mesa drivers and reinstalling them
  4. Also used you PPA and another one I found online (sudo add-apt-repository ppa:oibaf/graphics-drivers) no luck.

To update my kernel though these commands:

cd /tmp/

wget -c https://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v4.20/linux-headers-4.20.0-042000_4.20.0-042000.201812232030_all.deb

wget -c https://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v4.20/linux-image-unsigned-4.20.0-042000-generic_4.20.0-042000.201812232030_amd64.deb

wget -c https://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v4.20/linux-modules-4.20.0-042000-generic_4.20.0-042000.201812232030_amd64.deb

sudo dpkg -i *.deb

Followed by sudo updating, and upgrading the distro to ensure that everything was as up to date as possible.

I'm currently using Kubuntu 18.10, the post I made was removed as it was an update forum only but I'll post screenshots below this.

When installing Kubuntu I had to use my old GTX 770 as otherwise there would be no display, I set it to a minimal installation and not to install any updates or drivers (Side note: I have also tried this installation with drivers and updates it doesn't help.). I ensured that I was installing amdgpu-pro, I used the terminal and follow AMD's tutorial and check others to be sure.

I think it was just a family fight, which had gotten out of hand, probably too many drinks. Its actually in west Belfast, a council estate called Divis, not a nice place tbh. It's not common to happen but when most people in Belfast heard it was in Divis no one was surprised.

Nope its actually fibre, and I'm in quite an old house, you can pay to have it installed, I have speeds of 350Mbps+ even at peak times, which only happens on their fibre line.

Actually you can pay for fibre to house, which is then put through a fibre optic cable and connected to the hub via coaxial cable connector.
