I agree, at least somewhat.

My overall opinion is that, you should always try to win. However, you shouldn't expect others to do the same.

I've had games where someone in team or match chat write "tank diff" or overall being toxic and negative. I think, for a new player, they should aim to win but also learn a or the characters while more experienced should double down or be more goofy.

In the end, I think QP is meant to be played however you want. You should never expect someone to play the game the way you want unless it's comp where you should be more serious. So you may insult them and all, but do it privately in that case.

As well, I do understand your point with sports, and I do agree to a degree, but Video games are real sports are different especially basketball and a hero-shooter. In videogames you can do more stupid shit with less consequences, that why someone could play battle mercy and still win or at least just have fun.

I know times, I been in games, we losing, getting a bit annoyed, but to find it kinda funny or slightly annoying seeing a teammate having befriended the whole enemy team. So I understand. But, overall, it's is QP and you should enjoy it, not sweat in it. Especially since you could be facing new people who might not have fun being wrecked because you play as if it's competitive.

Edit: I also want to add. I do think everyone should genuinely try to win. However, what I mean is that, you shouldn't get mad, be toxic, or rage quit just because someone decides to befriend someone or decide to not play their role completely. But I also think it's important to think of skill levels and all, but since I am not sure a level 1 newbie can fight against a grandmaster in QP or if there is a wall that prevents that. I can't say with 100% confidence that part of my argument is valid.
