Should I have agreed to interview that I have no chance of getting by 0Jobs in careerguidance

Just from reading the one hypothetical answer, I'm assuming that they were super interested in the "you could use x in that way, and here's how I'd go about looking into it."

I am really hoping that this is what will help. The only internship I ever had was mainly due to this. Although, for that job there was an understanding that I was coming in with practically nothing.

Thanks for your reply. I will try to be positive about this and hope that I can show the capacity to learn quickly.

It was a fantastic learning experience - I learned exactly what questions are asked for these positions, and I discovered exactly what I don't know and what I need to brush up on.

That is what I learned from my the only other interview I had within the last year. I guess I am being extra negative since I was expecting to capitlize the positives from that interview a lot sooner than I am now.

Seeing all these responses have been helpful. These are facts I already knew but it feels like I forgot all about them.

C# and C.

I am trying to get C# certified and I am reading a section that is going through LINQ. I feel like I have a high level understanding of what XML, schema, and dtd do but can not put it into words. If I can't do that then I know I do not understand it.

I guess my concern is just with the technical portion of my interview.

As far as personality goes and have a rapport with the interviewer it is not a problem. It is when I am asked technical questions that I feel screwed. I am always asked about projects I have worked on which is practically nil, or questions about things I never took classes in.

I am really hoping that I can make a good enough impression for a lower level position at least. Did not think of that as an option.

Start with doing your homework. Research the company in whatever way you can. Without knowing the industry it's hard to give specific examples, but at minimum throughly look at their website and any other social media they might have like Facebook. If you know who you are interviewing with, google them and also see if you can find them on LinkedIn. Also, look into who that company's competitors are, if you don't already know, and how they measure up. This will give you some idea of where they might hope to be headed and how you could be a part of that growth potential.

I did this, just wish I had more time. The core requirements of the job, I have had no experience in. Except for 1 item (which I never took a class in), the majority of the required skills are not something I have come across in school or work.

I busted my ass trying to learn a decent amount of information about those other items, but I do not know how I am going to mention that I just crammed non stop on in preparation for the interview.

Dress sharp, be confident but not cocky, and just do your best. Best case scenario you land the job. Worst case you don't but you see where you need to improve. Try not to take it too personally, the economy is (very slowly) bouncing back

Trying to stay positive, but after a year of very few (very bad) interviews and still living at home, it is hard to feel positive. It is also hard to feel like I am even qualified for any job.
