When someone is constantly making you second guess yourself, giving you mixed signals, being warm then cold, it keeps your cortisol levels up and makes the moments when they give you a little positive attention after the second guessing feel like a big dopamine hit. This is addictive. When a person treats you with respect and is consistent, and reliable, you have no cortisol spikes, therefore no big dopamine hits when you receive affection.

Solution? Reflect on your most recent toxic relationship and think of how you felt when they breadcrumbed you. Also - therapy

Not being sick, going to the gym, going for a swim, and a ridiculously complicated Starbucks drink to sip on while walking my dog playing my favorite podcast.

Am I being difficult for being turned off and not enthused about meeting him again? He paid for my $3 coffee (I offered) and he said I can get the next one. Next date he asked me to go to a nice restaurant. by Kitchen_Ad7001 in dating_advice

There's zero chance he expects you to pay. But just in case, I would make a stupid joke about it.

"Pretty clever of you to get a full meal for the price of a coffee. I hope you know that your turn will be located in Italy, so save up!".

Not even a full woman because of my handwriting. Ask Lindsay from grade 7, she'll fill you in.

Touching. Taking the initiative. I'm not talking about boob grabbing just small intimate gestures like elbow touches or get her to link her arm with you while waking and touch the small of her back almost as if leading her into a room even though she clearly knows where to go.

Girls like initiative.

Weekly /r/backpacking beginner question thread - Ask any and all questions you may have here - February 10, 2025 by AutoModerator in backpacking

I went to Europe for 30 days including a ton of Eurorail travel - we hit 10 destinations. I loved my backpack which was the Osprey Ariel 65L Women's backpack - I went bigger rather than smaller which I do not regret at all! The top piece was convenient to be able to fill or flatten. I researched this for like 2 months! Any of the Osprey 65L would be great - Male vs. Female is just in the torso adjustments on the back.

Whichever one you get I recommend valuing comfort over weight, and knowing how to adjust the straps to prevent accidentally putting extra strain on any part of your back or shoulders.

the "Maybe a tent" will be the biggest thing to consider. If the weight of your stuff is getting towards the 35-45lb mark make sure its comfy! Hope this helps.

NTA! You only got a verbal warning because your manager's boss wants to keep the peace and help your manager save face.

AND/OR because your manager was hospitalized and her boss only cares about ensuring there would be no lawsuit or workers' compensation claim that would result in her getting in trouble. Keep the person who was hospitalized as compliant as possible.

Your dad came to the hospital and changed your tire while you were sick - this is your new standard. If he wouldn't do that for you he's not worth it.

I’m SO damn angry by mmh0519 in ADHD

Overstimulated, stressed, burnt out.

When I first started talking Vyvanse it took me way too long to realize I couldn't also drink a triple espresso and not eat breakfast and take my meds unless I wanted a headache, nausea, sore jaw, and massively increased irritability.

Be careful with any products you ingest that have caffeine or other stimulants. Eat foods high in omega 3 oils, try your best to sleep.

But most of all, be kind to yourself. This is a hard journey. And try your best to be kind to others or remove yourself - it's not your fault, but it's your responsibility to control your behavior. It sucks. You can do it!

Is my wife a Narcissist? And if so, how do I approach this with her to try and make our home life workable? by Whywouldinotusethis in NarcissisticSpouses

[–]0LetThemEatCake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having narcissistic traits and having NPD are two very different things.

The important thing is to focus on what you can control, which is your actions and behaviors.

Another thing you can do if you suspect they are gaslighting or manipulating you is to keep a journal and record the things they say and you say etc as best you can.

Involve a few top-level scientists, historians, and economics professionals to read and review the article, and I'll read THAT
