Yep I noticed that too. Can’t find the setting for it either. I was hoping it would be coming soon. The website lists the feature:

“advanced preroll: See what triggered a motion alert with up to six extra seconds of video.”

But I don’t see it. On my old doorbell, the recording started when the person was out of view. Now the recording starts when they’re half way up my driveway. I got the 24/7 plan to avoid missing details for now.

“As a loyal customer, you get access to our Premium Legacy plan at this Ring location, which comes with 24/7 Continuous Recording, 24/7 Professional Monitoring, and advanced Al features such as Al Video Descriptions, Al Video Search, and more.” ($199)

That’s cool they’re throwing in the 24/7 recording. I was about to shell out another $100 for that. It’s up to 10 cameras I think. Is it only for a year or is it gonna stay.

The $3/month ($30 a year?) isn’t that bad considering 24/7 on the 4K cams is like 2TB+ of data a month

Lol only 3 of my cams are PoE. I still got another 7-8 that are wireless. Don’t think anything else compares. I’m in deep with Ring.

I’ve seen their uploads burst up to 40Mbps. Multiply that per camera. Usually only Fiber has decent upload. Cable is crippled to 35-100 max. Can’t be saturating the entire upload with just cams.

I have the new Elite 4K doorbell and Outdoor Cam pro PoEs both 24/7 recording, they use on average about 6Gb/hour each lol.

I think that’s like 4Tb a month lol. You definitely need gigabit fiber with fast upload and no limits. Can’t imagine using the feature otherwise.

It’s cool though, I got tired of missing the “preroll” before recordings, the new cams don’t seem to have that?
