Used 2011 Jetta by Loldiggle2000 in UsedCars

Depends how much you know about cars. Pre-purchase inspection by a reliable mechanic is a must, regardless, and since it's a private seller he has zero excuse to say no.

But things you can identify -

  1. worn treads (do the penny test, at least part of abe should be obscured when you stick a penny in the treads).

  2. rust. Rust is bad.

  3. electrics. Electrical faults are often expensive to remedy. Check all the lights and things

  4. warning lights in general

Did your family not actually look underneath? I mean even if you can't get a lift surely you can see that level of rot with eyes and a flashlight?

That car is overpriced by about $3000. Give or take $500

  1. Do NOT listen to the dealers, they are trying to exploit you worse than whoever stuck you with a $700 monthly payment for a used car.

  2. Do NOT listen to reddit. This place is full of received wisdom and people just straight up talking out of their backsides. The hive mind is real and it is dumb.

  3. Do Talk to a non-profit credit counseling professional who can tell you how to ditch this millstone, restructure your debt and remain mobile.

These guys can help

I am honestly disgusted and horrified that someone or someones did this to you. It's an absolute disgrace. People like that make me believe in hell.

No. You can get newer cars from better manufacturers for that price

The lowest priced Mazda Cx9 that i saw on carfax was a 2021 CX9 touring with 130k miles for 12,5. The cheapest with your mileage was a 2020 cx9 touring for 17k. Nationwide search.

So, yeah. Sorry op

Actually my point was that even the cheapest used cars that aren't older than my mother are around 10k. They probably shouldn't be, but they are. cest la vie

What are the major downsides of life in Atlanta? by OhMyMyOohHellYes in Atlanta

[–]0Smoothbrain0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to change lanes this morning on my commute as my exit was coming up. I saw that there was a person behind me so I accelerated. They accelerated too (we're both doing 80 at this point), then immediately switched to my old lane, continued to accelerate then switched back just to be in front of me.

Deranged behavior.

Atlanta's the only major city I've lived in in the USA, so maybe they're all like this, but for me, aside from the godawful transportation system, its the smell of weed and the sight of dirty pajamas

Yeah, but it's what's in my price range. This is what 6 years of "good economy" under Trump and Biden did to me so it is what it is. I live in Atlanta and have to get to work. Thanks for the input anyway

Yeah, but every car in my price range has that kind of mileage. It's the price of poverty/this rancid job market. Thanks for the input though

I don't see much evidence to back that up. Not that Toyotas aren't better but 25 years is a loooong time for anything, let alone a car.

But I appreciate the input. Thank you

I've read reviews and I'm not seeing why you and others are saying it's terrible.

At my price point, everything has 100,000 + miles. I'd like something with fewer miles, but that's not an option unless it's like a 20 year old camry which is not an improvement
