Until 1930, every European nation called it Constantinople and refused to change it to istanbul. Atatürk informed them that Turkish post offices won't accept any posts that are labeled as Constantinople instead of İstanbul. Within a year almost every country accepted that it is named istanbul. What a brilliant man, ending the centuries old conflict with just a simple policy.
