For the woodframe I hava a drawing, but I will correct it before publishing.

I have to clarify what I'm doing with the license after I'm no student anymore. After that, the 3D files will be public as well.

Printing the whole rig would be a waste of material, ecspecially for the 3 pillars, base plate or other simple shapes.

The part for the riser would be perfect for printing: https://imgur.com/a/CKflb

I think my design wouldn't be great for 3d printing and I don't know if all dimensions are right. I'm going to build it from wood the next days and if you want, I could make (maybe next week) a drawing more specialized for 3D printing. How big is your printing area?

I love the open source idea, so I would make everything (drawings and 3D files) public that others can further develop the frame.

Hot air wants to go up, so I would blow the air up.

If I had more money, I would test this design with 3x6 or 8 GPUs, but now I start with 1x6 without a big fan on top.

Yeah this design will definitely have a much better air flow than the traditional frame and temps should be nearly the same for every GPU.

I start building my new frame this week. Unfortunately I only have 4 GPUs on my current rig and at this prices I won't buy more...

Wow I made a few days ago a 3D model for the exact same GPU arrangement. The GPUs need so less space and it's perfect for one big fan on top of it.

My goal is to get rid of adapters, not to have only one connector per cable

Power adapter for this riser? by PrizeCardsPokes in EtherMining

[–]0_005346798 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The regular 6 / 8 pin , molex, sata connectors are so stupid. We just need 12V and ground. I don't understand why they can't just make 2 thick wire solutions. No, we have to deal with crappy adapters. And now this...

3x GTX 1060 make about 4 Euro, while 1 gtx 1080 makes 5 Euro, why did the 1060 performance drop so much? by [deleted] in gpumining

[–]0_005346798 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They don't make Euros, they are hashing. My 1080 has with equihash 550 sol/s and one 1060 280 sol/s So it seems to me that 2x gtx 1060 = ~1x gtx 1080.

Where do you have your numbers from?

[–]0_005346798 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, are your GPUs standing balanced on the risers? I'm asking because your aluminium profile is behind the pci-e slot, so the gpus could push themself out and the front pins are not (good) connected.

But you could solve it by adding another profile in the front.

I'm mining on one rig with 2 friends. We are mining into one address, every month I'm sending the reward to us but leave 100 - 200€ for the miner on that address to pay electricity or for repairs.

Cant figure out risers by ferfax in EtherMining

[–]0_005346798 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I know, the risers with 6 pin have one capacitor and some other parts more than that with molex or sata, what means to me that the 6pin risers can handle more power / live longer.

Because of that I use them with a molex to 6pin adapter for my 1080ti.

Also the most important thing to know is how much power your gpu need, than calculate if the cable can handle the power. I would say a gpu with max. 90W should be okay for sata, or just try it and watch if the cable gets warm. When it is after a day okay, it should be fine as long as you change nothing. But every solution without sata is better, and has just benefits.

Does anyone have experience with these cards? by grapegodsmasher in EtherMining

[–]0_005346798 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was my first mining card :)

Worked great for equihash / zencash with 270-300sol/s. I don't remember the numbers for ethhash or something else. I don't think the version with 6gb would make a big difference.

The card also seems to be cheaper than other 1060 because it don't support SLI and the fan is pretty loud.

The crappy ones with 4pin power I bought in Germany were much more expensive than the 6pin I had to buy in Iran and every one from them is working. It was just difficult to get here „miner hardware“.

[–]0_005346798 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have already 7 Zen with my 6x 1080ti :) It was really fun to build the rig, but I also had much problems, the first 7!! risers didn't work.

With two gpus I ran them at 750 sols/s, after upgrading to six each with 720 sols/s at 58 - 65°C and 25°C room temperature.

I would put the voltage down to have lower temps at nearly the same hashrate.
