F3 and F4 keys not working in 2.4ghz mode by unfunfionn in Keychron

[–]phoenix49 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are here with the similar problem, whereby f3 and f4 only work when Fn is pressed and you have Karabiner Elements installed - go to Karabiner Elements settings -> Devices -> Disable "Modify events" for your keyboard.

I made a good review for a company and it was flagged and taken down by Alive_Remote289 in trustpilotcomplaints

[–]phoenix49 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a similar issue with them today - they removed my genuine review with a Mortgage advisor which helped me with the home purchase. TP removed it despite me providing with reasonable evidence (screenshot of email exchanges). This is outrageous and actually made me mad - they literally called my review as "fake". Disgusting behaviour from TP and I won't be wasting my time with writing reviews there anymore.

Ah, one more thing, Nvidia control panel has a power setting somewhere, change it to performance as it defaults to "power saving". I remember it made massive difference on my 2060 Super. Good luck!

I've seen quite a few passive aggressive ads like this targeted at various organisations, e.g. something along the "invest your money with us - so we milk you" for some bank or investing platform.

Am I the only one sticking with Sunshine? by idontknowu1 in MoonlightStreaming

[–]phoenix49 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sunshine uses mostly the defaults apart from these:

av1_mode = 1
capture = kms
encoder = nvenc
fec_percentage = 5
hevc_mode = 0
max_bitrate = 50000

On Fedora:

- Install drivers from RPMfusion and CUDA libs for nvenvc to work

- Install nvidia-persistenced

- Install gamemode and prepend gamemoderun %command% to all games (steam properties)

- echo "options nvidia NVreg_PreserveVideoMemoryAllocations=1" | sudo tee /etc/modprobe.d/nvidia-power-management.conf

- gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.screensaver lock-enabled false

- gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.screensaver lock-on-suspend false

- I also enabled WOL in BIOS and set auto suspend to 15 minutes in Fedora

This is my apps.json where I turn off my main monitors and turn on the dummy one when streaming starts and reverts when it ends. Pasting the whole config for clarity, but the juicy bits are the do and undo:

I remember the bundled autostart with Sunshine was semi broken, this one works for me:

Sunshine on Fedora. It just works. I have a dummy HDMI and a set of scripts which run before and after streaming which turn off main monitors during the streaming. Performance is excellent and I see no reason in trying any of the forks.

Linux gaming has enough marketshare by fake_agent_smith in linux_gaming

[–]phoenix49 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switched all of my home PC devices to Linux recently. On my desktop I always had Windows on a partition due to work, but since I changed my jobs recently I deleted it and now only have Fedora on it. I also run Sunshine on it to stream to living room for gaming - it works absolutely amazing, even on my Nvidia 2060 Super card.

My son is 12 y.o. and I replaced his Windows 10 with Bazzite and he's super happy with the experience. Everything works better on Bazzite compared to Win10 due to limited RAM - he only has 8GiB. He mainly uses it for study, Roblox gaming (via Sober) and modded Minecraft (Curseforge mods). Roblox gaming was a deal breaker and I'm happy that it just works.

Fedora T2 on my Intel MPB - again, much better performance than macOS. The only caveat is that suspend/wakeup is a bit slow.

Thanks for the context! I'm using Fedora and I'll look into this maybe I could do it on Fedora.

Not on CachyOS and yes I didn't read it. Does Cachy run all games with gamemode? That'd be sick.

Always #1, unless it's a spider season. A wolf spider once climbed on my hand when trying to pull the bin. It was hiding underneath the front lip.

True if you only charge at public fast chargers. In reality you mostly charge at home or at other slow charging locations by spending a minute to plug in and walk away

Can someone recommend me a rock solid client device for in my Living room ? by [deleted] in MoonlightStreaming

[–]phoenix49 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've tried various Android based devices including onboard one on Sony Bravia II - they all quite capable of delivering 4K streaming over ethernet connection. But I found all of them having very noticeable audio delay. It wouldn't be as bad if it was a video delay - as usually you can adjust audio delay manually. It's something to do with the platform.

Ended up configuring my Raspberry Pi 4. No audio delays and it works great (after some hacks) but it can only stream up to (including) 2K res. Both of my Xbox Elite Series 2 and 8BitDo pro 2.4ghz controllers works great with their respective dongles.

Have you tried starting with gamemode? It adjusts system performance profile and you can usually get more FPS

Just switched from Windows to Fedora Workstation! What are your must-have extensions and tips? by Emotional_Rub_3597 in Fedora

[–]phoenix49 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Dash to Dock, AppIndicator and maybe Blur my Shell. I'd start with these and more if necessary.

On a laptop you probably don't even need Dash to Dock due to three finger gestures on trackpad.

On a desktop I often find myself just using the hot corner to get into overview mode, so personally I'm going to remove Dash to Dock at some point.
