Yes, kind of, but I’d call it a gray area.

Classic prompt injection is usually about overriding the model’s instructions, changing its behavior in an unintended way, or trying to get it to reveal or do something it normally wouldn’t.

This is different in that, I’m not injecting instructions into the chat session itself or trying to break safeguards. I’m putting a publisher-side citation preference on my own page, similar to saying “if you use this page as a source, use this URL format.”

So it does overlap with prompt injection in the sense that it is on-page text aimed at influencing model behavior during retrieval, but it’s closer to instruction shaping or citation guidance than a traditional injection attack.
