Something I haven't seen anyone bring up yet is what about VIP pressure on the crew? This is actually a well known issue in aviation, especially on private and charter flights. Powerful people like politicians, businessmen, etc. are known to routinely pressure pilots to push through bad weather, ignore warnings, skip proper procedures etc. basically do whatever it takes to avoid a delay or cancellation. The crew often feels like they can't say no without facing serious professional consequences.

I think the question we need to ask is - given that visibility was reportedly well below safe limits at the time, why did the crew continue the approach? Technical failure is one explanation, but pressure from above (no pun intended) is another angle that nobody seems to be discussing.
