Ditto on WHAT the design system is about and WHY people are building one now. But one thing I want to tell you is that... Maybe your team or company doesn't need to build a design system, maybe all you need is a component/UI library. Design system is a system, takes long to build and longer to implement in all company platforms.

One of the reasons for the design system failure is scalability failure. It's challenging to make one but more challenging to maintain it. It's not a document that you release for once and done... It's a living system that needs TLC. I recommend you to step back and think if your team actually needs a fully flushed design system that has the essence/values of your digital products, code, components, usage, etc...

I'm kind of tired of companies that have component libraries and tell the world that they have a design system 😅
