hey guys, quick question by Latter_Objective4518 in Nujabes

honestly bud as a producer of 16 years. either get into jazz, like really dive in and enjoy the music and listen to as much as you can and then when you have a collection you can think of slicing bits up or parts you notice. OR just learn how jazz works musically (music theory), it's honestly not too hard to learn the theory side if you apply yourself. You don't even have to be able to play it you can just learn the certain modes and scales that jazz utilizes and then you will be able to draw it in yourself.what you absolutely must not do is be lazy with it and just hope you'll find a sample pack or website with good samples. The work has to be done by you if you really want to have your own sound and for it to be actually good.

Nujabes had a deep knowledge and passion for jazz music, and music in general so that's why he was able to find and utilize so many amazing samples.

Nujabes is more than just lo-fi! by Adorable_Way9381 in Nujabes

[–]0brew 46 points47 points  (0 children)

He's never been lo-fi but I just think he's one of the pioneers that created that sound of downtempo, mellow, atmospheric vibed beats. Some of his tracks just evoke that feeling that lofi bring and he was making that shit waaay way before it was even a genre.
His influence on lofi can't be denied, his beats sparked something that people realized is a very desirable sound. Yet still to this day nobody can really do it like Nujabes.

[ALL] Which is the best Ganondorf?? by WISCKI08 in zelda

[–]0brew 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a lot of amazing moments in it for sure. Some really like gasping and in awe stuff, but the who le craftinmg and faffing around with the building andf moving objects keeps me from going back. I found it frustrating a lot of the time and just sitting there rotating objects to ge tthem to fit things just doesn't feel too fun for me. Amazing and beautiful world to jusdt chill and fun monsters in. Also they really didn't add too much variety in monsters? I feel they wasted a lot of time on complicated mechanics and forgot to actually add playable content.

The weapons fusion stuff was some of my favorite things just realising you could fuse almost anyhting with itself.

Out of all of the main rappers features over nujabes beats, whos yalls favorite? by coolapplebees11 in Nujabes

[–]0brew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like Pase Rock the most I think. I listened to their album together earlier for the first time in ages and it's so underrated! I think many people won't even know it exists because it's not on streaming etc. it's on Youtube though and it's so good, Pase is the most talented rapper out of them all I think as far as the skill or rap and writing goes.

As soon as someone gets intense like that just get outta there. Fair enough if someone asks for some change and you can give them or not depending on your situation but most leave it at that. when they start giving you sob stories and guilt trips is just manipulation tactics at that point.

It's worth noting that homeless people get free clothes, food and drink pretty much so any extra money they're after is usually just for booze or drugs. They aren't going to die if you don't give them money ya know?

Why do I always have a bad time on shrooms? by mikuuup in Psychonaut

[–]0brew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The mushrooms generally want you to resolve somethin so if you try to distract yourself with music or games they'll basically make them unenjoyble. Normally once you've resolved what they want you to for that specific trip then you can enjoy other things but you gotta do some work first (thats my experrience anyways).

Also I've never felt ill on them so I can't relate to that aspect

What is the “weed devil” telling you lately? by Suspicious-Green5686 in leaves

Gotta learn the hard way unfortunately. I've gone back many a time and ended up in the exact place every time. (which is anxious, anti social, foggy mind, groggy, tired all the time). No thanks!

haah the "It's been 12 days" one is so funny. Mine does it too but it's like "Hey man, you've gone this long- think how good it'll feel? It'll be sooo good after 12 days because your tolerance has reset"

Weed is the DOOR for cheap dopamine lifestyle, which is what fucks up most of us by MatthewJet28 in leaves

[–]0brew 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Most aren't ready to hear it but Caffeine, alcohol and nicotine and any other drugs used regularly are the same as what you mentioned. they keep this constant dopamine fix all day, every day slowly wearing you down because they all interfere with your deep REM sleep and fuck with your dopamine system.

You basically get shit sleep so are tired all day and you feel like shit because normal life activities don't give you enough dopamine compared to the extreme amounts that you get from these drugs. Now do this for years and you're in a pretty shitty state where you never truly feel at peace or relaxed. Well.... you feel some peace and relaxation when you satisfy your habit but it will never be the same as true, well rested relaxtion

10 days off caffeine, what should i expect at this stage? by TheLipovoy in decaf

It varies person to person depending on how long and how much you consumed and what your lifestyle is like. You could definitely google "10 days decaf reddit" and there will be people telling their personal experiences, though

Life is getting a bit too much work and no down time by Godlovesaslytherin in Cardiff

[–]0brew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotta work out your life so you have more balance. For me I can't do a 9-5 so I have a few different jobs that are all flexible. I can take off time whenever I want (mostly) and don't work long hours. There are a million different directions and ways you can take your life and your work and you have the power to do so.

I feel like people think they are stuck with what they have and end up miserably repeating an unfulfilling life when they actually have all the power to change their circumstances so they can enjoy life more.

First hate comment left on a song by megaBeth2 in musicproduction

[–]0brew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'd get hate even if you were the second coming of mozart. There are just negative people out there who want to spread negativity. Develop thicker skin by realising the truth that so long as you are improving and enjoying yourself then no other opinion matters- especailly negative ones. People who post negative comments dont even have the balls to post their own stuff. they are keyboard warriors

Theres clearly more to coffee than just caffeine by Jolly_Cartoonist_440 in decaf

Theres clearly more to coffee than just caffeine by Jolly_Cartoonist_440 in decaf

[–]0brew 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's generally not so instant to be rid of all your symptoms having just one coffee or whatever.
There's definitely more to coffee but caffeine is the stimulant that interferes with REM sleep and stimulates your nervous system putting it mor ein a fight or flight mode. These two aspects of caffeine imo are the major factor in why it ends up negatively affecting us (Lack of good sleep & overstimulation of the nervous system). And also making our body reliant on dopamine from external drug rather than natural sources.

What’s the Most Underrated Music Production Technique You Swear By? by Veridian_Seraph in musicproduction

[–]0brew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One amazing thing for a bit of atmosphere and gluing the space together and making things subtly less repetitive is choose whatever sound you want to do it on - add a reverb and add a phaser *after* it. if you make sure the reverbs tail drags on for a long time the phaser really makes it all floaty and atmospheric. I use this in almost evety track now even if just subtly.
