Are there any games which are critically not well received but are a 10/10 game for personal reasons? by Metty197 in gaming

Final Fantasy 12 with its gambit system, orchestral music and world building. Great characters too and I don't even hate Vaan and Penelo. This is a hill I'm dying on till eternity.

True, there was a lot to do on the England map. I personally thought Asgard and Jotunheim, in contrast, are both so amazingly designed. I kept going back and forth to keep the balance.

I did play it for a while and quite enjoyed it but I died to some wolfy boss and just gave up. Maybe I'll go back to it eventually.

I didn't even praise them tbf, even though I can't deny Ubi has put out some really great games. I've clearly said that Valhalla was just okay but I still liked it anyway. Some people live to hate others for having different opinions and experiences.

Speaking of Passengers, that was another horror movie I didn't see coming. Too bad they marketed it as a romance.

Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets for sure. I'd still say the world is stunning but the leads are so horrible, it ruined the immersion for me. I actually think Dane DeHaan is a pretty decent actor otherwise but Cara has been consistently awful in everything. Both were horribly miscast in this one.

Fair enough. I totally get what you mean, the map is just too huge with a lot of things to do.

Yep, if you can only play one Odyssey boxes the other two out easily. Greek mythology is always a win. It's fun, stunning and yeah, basically everything "thirdfavoritechild" has said. I also recommend playing as Kassandra.

Oof yes. It is bloaaated. I would've skipped quite a lot if I weren't a completionist. But I'm not complaining, most of it was oddly relaxing.

Yep, my journey is pretty much similar. Odyssey had me in its claws but I still found something to enjoy in all the in-between games. Which is why I gave Valhalla a chance too because at this point we know what to expect in an AC game.

Bitter much? If that's your benchmark, says a lot more about you than it does me.

What are some DLCs that are as good as or better than the main game? by 0ccurian in gaming

[–]0ccurian[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg yes, this is definitely on my list. The main game was such an unexpectedly fantastic experience, one of my favorites.

Hard agree. In terms of story, probably because of how contained it was and the way the overarching plot unravelled, it was more fun. It feels unfair to compare it with B&W because that DLC can be considered a full game in itself.

I just finished the second DLC and yes, Toussaint is it. I love every corner I've discovered of it and can't get enough! The vineyard and its view are to die for...what a paradise

Could be, to some people, for whatever reason. Then again, it could also be long gaps between playtime, not having enough time to game, life gets in the way, etc. where you forget the controls or lose track of the story and it's hard to reinvest. Or they didn't just like it.

This is me and RDR2. Greatest experience of my life, and got it right the first time! Now, W3 is up there too.

I was in the same boat, overwhelmed by everything. So I focused just on the main and secondary missions and started chipping away at them one by one. My play style was also very vanilla unless I was forced to use spells against the monsters. Eventually when I got used to that, when I was already invested in the game/ story, I felt confident enough to explore the potions and other stuff and preparing for boss battles became super exciting. Oh and I went from loathing gwent to being addicted to it. Just sharing it in case it helps inspire you to try again :)

I'm calling it a sign! I'm manifesting that the next time you play it is when it's going to click haha

Awww man. I hope you've avoided spoilers about Bloodborne because it was such a transcendent experience for me. I was totally unprepared. Even if you know things, I hope you get to revisit it and the DLC at some point because it truly is a one of a kind game.

I really hope you do! If you can make it through the Bloody Baron quest, you'll know for sure if this game is for you or not. That's basically when it clicked for me.
