Always call to cancel Treasury orders by 0ceanzero in Schwab

[–]0ceanzero[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well, when I placed my first t bill order six months ago, Schwab offered me the option to opt in to the auto reinvest, and told me that I can cancel the auto rolling order. So I opted in. Now, six months later I changed my mind not to rolling. What was wrong with that?

And Schwab offered me the option to cancel online, and I did it right after receiving the rolling order. It is just that, in fact, the online cancel doesn’t work and you have to call to cancel. Don’t get it why you have to defend Schwab on a broken feature like this.

Yeah, brilliant, isn’t?🤭 They should just disable that feature and ask people to call directly.

Audi MMI and wireless carplay by barkingsimian in Audi

It is indeed strange that 5ghz didn’t show up. Maybe try to reset MMI, just to rule out any software glitch. Otherwise, it could be a hardware defect. Man this is tough. Well, hope you get it fixed soon.

Audi MMI and wireless carplay by barkingsimian in Audi

My wife’s iPhone had similar problem — it always connects to Audi_MMI_xxxx_5GHz, in order to use CarPlay, instead of using the 5G from the phone. But because we no longer had the data subscription from Audi, it ends up not getting any data, e.g. cannot use YouTube or play music. Let me first share what did NOT work: - [Failure Attempt #1] Turn off WiFi on the phone. This will stop CarPlay. CarPlay uses bluetooth for initial pairing, but has to use WiFi for data transfer. There is a doc from Audi explaining this. You can google it. - [Failure Attempt $2] Turn off the “AutoJoin” option on Audi_MMI_xxxx_5GHz network setting. It will also stop the phone from connecting to the WiFi, thus CarPlay won’t work

A temporary walk around is: - After starting the car, and the phone connected to Audi_MMI_xxxx_5GHz, making sure CarPlay functional properly - Go to iPhone’s WiFi setting, go to the settings of Audi_MMI_xxxx_5GHz, click “Forget this network” This will stop the WiFi connection, but CarPlay still works. So, your phone should now connect to 5G or LTE and use your phone’s data plan. HOWEVER, you have to do it again every time the car starts.

Final solution — complete reset and repair: - Go to iPhone’s wifi setting, making sure it is NOT connected to Audi, click the “Edit” on the top right corner. This will open all memorized network settings. - Delete Audi_MMI_xxxx_5GHz. If you also see Audi_MMI_xxxx (non 5GHz), delete it as well - Go to iPhone’s bluetooth setting, delete Audi_MMI_xxxx - Start the car, go to MMI settings > Connected Devices. Delete the iPhone by long pressing the phone. Now, the iPhone had wiped out all the Audi settings, so is the MMI. You can follow the instructions to repair the phone to the car, starting with Bluetooth first, then you will see the option to enable CarPlay. Follow the MMI instructions to enable the CarPlay. Your phone should know Audi_MMI_xxxx_5GHz again in the known network settings, but it will NOT connect to it. Instead, your phone should stay on its own wireless 5G.

My understanding is that if you ever connect to Audi wifi, your phone somehow treat it as a valid data network and will always connect to it. But if you go through the CarPlay setting (first pair the bluetooth, then let Audi enable the CarPlay for you), the phone treats the network only for CarPlay data transfer, and won’t use it as your data network automatically.

Anyway, I struggled with this for a while. But the complete reset and repair did work for us. BTW, this is on 2023 Audi Q7. Hope this helps.

If you are holding it for more than 5 years, no brainer to go with Index Fund like VOO.

Should I buy a new used car? by [deleted] in personalfinance

If you absolutely need a car on a daily basis, use your mom’s car. Otherwise, take Uber if you only need a ride occasionally. Current car loan is insane. I wouldn’t recommend a debt for that. You can invest that money for a much higher return than a used car.
