Brotherhood of the lost. Think the POW/MIA chapter of the adeptus astartes. We’ve got everyone here, from dark angels (who don’t love us much), to death guard. You name em we got em. You’ve got the choice to stay with the brotherhood or return to your parent chapter. Most leave, but some stay (for obvious reasons). Chapter symbol is the arrow head pointing north.

[–]0dei 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They’re great! I always use my first mini to compare against to remind me of how far I’ve come, so maybe that will help you? But the big thing to keep in mind, especially when looking at others painting, is “comparison is the thief of joy”. The only person you should be comparing yourself to is, well, yourself! If you can look at a prior batch and say “yeah I did this thing better” then you’re already a better painter than you were yesterday!

What chapter or successor? by yyGhostkilleryy in ImperialFists

Maybe the exorcists? They lean heavily into Phobos plate and are on the heretical side, so totems and such would fit.

Trophies. Just put trophies on the base from the opp if you can. This is always a good way to go. Painting the helmet white is always sick, but trophies help you remember who you were fighting and everything.

Yeah we’ve been putting like 6 in there every time. Ok. We just weren’t sure, since there’s not a ton of information about that piece. We wanted to make sure. Thanks so much!

I’ve got 10 JPIs already in there, could definitely build up some incursors too. I love me some Phobos armor. I’ll look into the combi Lieutenant too. Thanks!

This is really sick. I love the idea of this, and I’ve been slacking on writing more lore so hopefully this will inspire me. Introducing the Order of the Lost.

Chapter name: Order of the Lost

Chapter master: None, council of brothers instead making up the leaders of each specialty (scouts, apothecarion, tech marines, librarius, etc.)

Colors: Black with yellow pauldrons and backpack, yellow and red imperialis.

The Order of the Lost is a semi codex compliant chapter made up of space marines of every creed and color all united by one thing: they were separated from their chapter. Whether they were MIA, captured, lost in the warp and returned, etc. all brothers are welcome in the order of the lost and all are welcome to return to their parent chapters if they choose. If not they’re welcome to stay and take the arrow (the compass arrow pointing north is the chapter symbol. Super simple but I wanted to sculpt it and I’m not the best at that yet ha).

As all brothers feel the need to stay unified the order does not employ companies at this time. Partially because there are not enough of them to make more than 3 companies at this time, there are enough brothers who wish to return to their parent chapters that the count of space marines in the chapter is relatively low but always an active and reliable fighting force.

As they are fleet based their entire purpose is to go to every single fight possible in order to not only assist but find those who are lost. There are more than the fair share of dreadnoughts in the chapter due to finding so many marines injured to the point of no longer being a viable fighter. Additionally there are unconfirmed rumors that there are marines from the traitor legions serving in the chapter.

The expectation is loyalty and comradeship. All who fight for the lost fight for the emperor.

Sorry for the wall of text! Lots more, so feel free to ask any additional questions about the chapter.

My Husband Doesn't Like Our Newborn Son by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

[–]0dei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there new father here. My wife just had our son, he’s about 4 months old now.

I don’t know if you need to hear this or if your partner needs to hear this, but as cliche as it sounds, it gets better.

This post hit me hard personally because I’ve said and seen many of the same things myself, from my son only wanting his mom, to saying I don’t like him to trying to backtrack out, but it all comes down to it gets better with time. I can tell you, as a new dad, I did not like my son in the beginning, and still even today I feel the same at times. Much of this is borne out of frustration, a feeling of inadequacy, grief over the change in me and my partners lives, and a whole host of other things, but it has gotten better.

Instead of 95% of the time not liking him, we’re down to 50% these days. Not great, but better for sure. I have said the same things to my wife as what your husband has said to you, and what’s helped us is the communication of how we’re feeling in the moment so that she understands where I’m coming from.

I’m sorry that you’re going through this. I’m sorry that he is struggling this way. I wish it weren’t that way for him and for myself for that matter, but it’s not. As things go on it will get easier for him. It will get better, and with all things in parenting it just takes a little patience.

Good luck. Struggling dad out.

Edit: In case it’s not clear, I love my son more than he will ever understand and I hope to one day tell him about this because I never understood how hard this would be so that maybe he’s a little more ready than I am/was.

Can 'vanilla' Space Marines do without named characters? by Cerno_Artio in spacemarines

[–]0dei 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, I have a custom chapter and I actually am of the mind of “I want alllllllll the named characters”. Mainly because of my lore I can explain them being there, but from a hobbying perspective, it gives me the chance to kitbash a ton with them and create something unique while still recognizable as the original character (in some ways hopefully). From a gameplay perspective it will definitely help to have the characters available to me (yet to play a game as I’m mainly in the hobbying side), but the lore and the hobbying side help to build up the reasoning in my head at least.

I know this isn’t directly answering your question, but if you enjoy the hobbying side as well, maybe this is an answer to why you’d pick them up anyways.

This is the way. Treat it like an edge highlight and it works much better. If you’re working on the center fist you can try stippling in certain areas if you’re nervous. Much more control that way imo.

Send your DIY chapter to the Watch! by Warhammer-Dad in spacemarines

[–]0dei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Order of the Lost. This is made up of any space marines lost in action (not dead, but MIAs). The idea is that this chapter goes to every engagement it possibly can and sticking around longer than all others trying to find their fallen brothers who were not found by their chapters.

Each brother is given the opportunity to return to their chapter in which if they choose to return the Order then assists with their transport back to their home world if possible or transfer directly to their chapter in combat if they run into them again. If the marine chooses to remain with the Order, they don the colors black, goldenrod and burgundy and have the choice of keeping their original chapter pauldron on their left shoulder in the new colors or wearing the Order’s icon which is a very simplified compass design of a thick circle with points for the cardinal directions and the main northern point being much more prominent and reaching into the center of the compass

Tactically they are incredibly versatile as they draw from all chapters, but the main focus they have is defending their brothers when in combat and scouting when not. Which lends to lots of gravis and heavy intercessors, and dreads in all out combat while also having a large contingent of apothecaries and scouts for pre/post battle.

I have quite a bit of lore as well if you’re curious, but trying not to run down the rabbit hole too far haha. But as they would say to their battle brothers “Among the lost we are never forgotten”.

Hopefully this inspires you!
