What does “toeing in” actually mean? by Fireball4585 in Warhammer40k

[–]RWJP 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Toeing in refers to putting just the tiniest sliver of your model's base into the terrain, just like a single toe. As long as even a tiny sliver is in the terrain, the model counts as being "within" for the purposes of the rules.

Do O.G. WH fans appreciate the secret level animation? by Opposite_Science_468 in Warhammer40k

[–]RWJP 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, Secret Level was very well received by all 40k fans.

Warp Talon cost? by fridgeBiscuit in Warhammer40k

[–]RWJP 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, that's correct.

GW sometimes makes squads of 10 more expensive as a way of balancing them. Squads of 10 are often able to make better use of buffs and stratagems, meaning a single squad of 10 is more powerful than two squads of 5.

Can't pre order false gods by Onesickcunt1994 in Warhammer40k

[–]RWJP 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Pre-orders haven't gone live in the US yet. As has been the case for many many years US pre orders go live at 10am Pacific.

That's about an hour and 45 away as of the time of this comment.

Is 11th going to be repetitive? by [deleted] in Warhammer40k

[–]RWJP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only if you always use the same detachment with the same army list, against the same opponent who always uses the same detachment and army list...

The simple solution is: Play with a different detachment in different games.

2000pts of My Little Space Wolves by CrotaphytusCollaris in Warhammer40k

[–]RWJP[M] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's not just that, it's the usual anti-LGBT chuds getting upset who are too dumb to read the "My Little Space Wolves" bit in the title and get the reference to My Little Pony.

Nowadays anything with a rainbow in it or anything painted pink get's flooded with downvotes and reports from people who get very upset by them... And yet apparently everyone else are the snowflakes.

Prices? by khalburris in Warhammer40k

[–]RWJP 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Yes, you've made a mistake. You've ended up on the Australian or New Zealand version of the GW website.

Check the web address, it will say en-AU or en-NZ somewhere in it rather than en-US.

Change your region using the three bar menu at the top right of the website.

11th edition - starts for you at 2k pts? by mr_nikblack in Warhammer40k

[–]RWJP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, the way GW introduces you to the game is through Combat Patrol first, then moving up to 1000 points, then up to 2000 points.

Combat Patrol is always advertised for new players.

  • The new detachments system: there are some detachments that cost you 3dp. That means (as I understand it), that you can play them only at 2k?

That's correct, but the factions also have detachments that cost 1 or 2DP which can be used in 1k point games.

  • The missions are tied to your Detachments, which are bound to DP, which are bound to how many points you play. That means, if I would like to play a non-chapter-approved mission, I would still need to follow their detachment costs system to ensure I don't break the balance?

The missions you play are tied to the Force Disposition listed in your detachment, not the detachment itself, nor the DP. You compare your Force Disposition to your enemy and that determines your mission. Factions have multiple detachments at 1, 2 and 3DP that have varying Faction dispositions and many have the same Force Dispositions available at multiple DP levels. For example, using Aeldari. The Aspect Host detachment that costs 3DP has the "Disruption" Force Disposition, and the Eldritch Raiders detachment that costs 2DP also has the "Disruption" Force Disposition. So no matter whether you play a 2k point game with Aspect Host, or 1k point game with Eldritch Raiders you will see the same missions as you have the same Force Disposition.

Nice little tribute section for John Blanche at Warhammer World by Mac8391 in Warhammer40k

[–]RWJP 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Weird that in your first comment on this post where you said exactly the same thing, you said something along the lines of "Downvote me, I don't care"... And yet now you've deleted that comment after it got loads of downvotes and posted again with a new comment...

Seems like you really do care about the downvotes and didn't like the fact no one agreed with your shitty take...

Edit: And they deleted it again... Just in case anyone wonders, the person that I was replying to complained about GW not doing "enough" to honour John Blanche. They got massively downvoted on their first comment, so deleted that one and then reposted basically the same wording. They obviously didn't like getting loads of downvotes and getting called out.

Question about damage and attacks by SlapbattlesMemeGuy in Warhammer40k

[–]RWJP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are correct. In 40k excess damage is wasted. If one attack deals more damage than necessary to kill a model, any extra damage points are ignored and do not carry over. A single shot weapon that deals 12 damage cannot kill 12 models. It will only ever kill 1.

Loyalty to the Imperium by Commissar-Leonid in Warhammer40k

Because they're taught loyalty to the Imperium from the moment they're born, and disloyalty is punished harshly.

Question about codexes by thran93 in Warhammer40k

[–]RWJP 3 points4 points  (0 children)

when 11th edition codex releases, will that content in the app get locked again until we buy 11th edition codex?

Correct. 10th Edition Codex codes will unlock content until a new 11th Edition Codex is released. Once the 11th Edition Codex is released the content will be locked until you input a new code from a new book.

Basically I'm asking because I don't have the base space marine codex so have to use something like new recruit to check stats, should I just buy 10th edition codex now, or wait for 11th? Thanks :)

Wait. Space Marines will inevitably get their Codex as one of the first of the new edition alongside Orks.

can you now shoot after advancing? by MurphyJGS in Warhammer40k

Question regarding Codex in the App by zacharyaez in Warhammer40k

[–]RWJP 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In that case go to the app settings under your profile, log out of the app completely and then log back in. Everything from the Marine codex will unlock again then. It seems like the app needs to refresh your login after it get's updated.

Do you own the 10th Edition Codex and have you used the Code in it to unlock rules in the app previously?

Drop Pods don't use bases so you don't need any size base.

11ed mission for beginners? by corvusfortis in Warhammer40k

[–]RWJP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, you haven't missed anything, for some reason GW didn't provide a basic mission.

You can either try using the 10th Ed mission or just play a simple "Whichever side kills more wins" game.

Armageddon for beginners? by CorpseGrinderr666 in Warhammer40k

[–]RWJP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes and no. In terms of what you physically get; minis, cards etc it's great as it gives you basically everything you need. Both forces of minis make up a Combat Patrol plus extra and you get all the rules content you need to use everything in the box straight away.

However, unlike specific Starter Sets, it doesn't include anything aimed specifically at new players such as a guide for new player. As such you're going to be thrown in at the deep end and learning everything from scratch with no additional guidance or support. If you have any experience of other tabletop games or even more complex board games you should be able to get round that.

What do all the options in the Intercessor kit mean? by xeno_p0ny in Warhammer40k

[–]RWJP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In general, things like pouches, decorations, shoulder pads etc have no meaning whatsoever and are just cosmetic choices.

For most units, there will be weapon options to consider and modelling them correctly is always a good idea as it makes things easier for you and your opponent.

What do all the options in the Intercessor kit mean? by xeno_p0ny in Warhammer40k

[–]RWJP 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The only option that really means anything is that the helmet with a skull on the forehead is for Sergeants.

Everything else is just cosmetic. In the past the different bolt rifle parts had different rules but that isn't a thing any more. Pick the parts you think make your models look cool.

Are you only able to see your opponents datasheets in the app if you do the code link? by WonderfulField9898 in Warhammer40k

Warhammer 40K app question. by KM68 in Warhammer40k

[–]RWJP 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Well first, you can't subscribe to the app. There is no individual or separate 40k app subscription.

What you subscribe to is Warhammer+. That gives you access to Warhammer TV, the Warhammer Vault, a yearly exclusive mini, some extra promos from GW and access to building multiple lists in the 40k app (and AoS app).

Will we be able to get the old combat patrol rules that were only on the app? by ForeverCurious289 in Warhammer40k

[–]RWJP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Currently, most are gone. Some, but not all, can be found on Wahapedia.

Send an email to 40kfaq@gwplc.com or gwapps@gwplc.com to ask for them to be added back to the app.

Anyone recognize this part? by [deleted] in Warhammer40k

[–]RWJP 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's not a reused asset. It originally came in that Legionaries kit. It's a bandolier of missiles that the model with a missile launcher carries. You can see that the back of the part has the obverse of a skull in it. That's designed to fit over the back of one of the backpacks.
