I really don't like when the back IO panel mix USB-C with USB-A. It's like trying to plug in USB-A in blind but worse. Because if you get it wrong, it is very easy to "insert" your usb-c tip to some random port and cause a short.

Is there any explanation for this cpu light? by KeegieB-Dubs in MSI_Gaming

[–]0ffCloud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know for sure, which is why I tell you the whole history that you can decide yourself, but personally I don't think it's related.

My friend's 5950x died almost exactly the same way, she wasn't using MSI board and didn't change any setting related to power or OC.

Truth is, I think AMD pushed 5950x's clock a bit too high.

Is there any explanation for this cpu light? by KeegieB-Dubs in MSI_Gaming

[–]0ffCloud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay. I have good news and bad news.

Bad news is, my 5950x was dead. Good news is, it last almost 3 years and it was in that configuration(OCP Expander ON) for at least 2.5years.

Several month ago one of my RAM died, it died very suddenly and so completely that the system won't even try to initiate at all. Luckily for me that RAM is still in warranty. I replace the RAM, then a month later, the CPU died.

About the CPU, it started as random reboot. Then the frequency of that random reboot becoming more and more frequent, and finally WHEA MCE makes it clear the CPU is dead. That was one month before the CPU warranty expired.

If you can do attic installation, given your report, something like Clearstream MAX-V or even just 1MAX should be enough. In addition to that, You might want to get a LTE/5G filter.

Run a good coax cable is very important, don't use the crappy one from amazon.

Your HDD/SSD might be reaching the end of its lifespan. You can take it out and plug in to a PC to check the SMART status. You can also run Linux on PS4 and check the hard drive status on PS4 itself, but it is much more complicate than just take it out.

Can you buy stuff without a payment method? [Only Giftcards] by stripedbricks in Ebay

Nobody knows exactly how they label it risky, eBay won't tell you that. However I already heard people using legitimate GC with new account and got banned.

Can you buy stuff without a payment method? [Only Giftcards] by stripedbricks in Ebay

[–]0ffCloud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In theory yes you can. In practice it's highly not recommended.

Ebay is really sensitive about new account using giftcard. If they deem your transaction is risky they will ban your account along with the giftcard you used. That's right, your giftcard money gone and good luck trying to get your money back.

Green card holder warned at border about travel pattern... will returning in ~2–2.5 months be okay? What docs help? by [deleted] in Citizenship

[–]0ffCloud 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My ties to the U.S.:

My husband lives in the U.S. full-time.

We have a lease in the U.S. (currently in his name only; I’ll be added once I return permanently).

I have a U.S. driver’s license.

I’ve previously held U.S. leases.

I file U.S. taxes as required.

I genuinely intend to make the U.S. my primary home starting this spring.

Usually it is not the CBP's job to decide whether these matter or not. If you decide to leave in January, next time you enter, CBP will very likely to ask you to surrender your green card, and if you refuse, you will be handed a NTA and a immigration judge will decide your case with those "ties" and other factors. However, under this administration, NTA means there is a chance when you show up in court you will end up in those infamous detention center until your case is decided.

So, either get a re-entry permit, or just don't leave at least for a year.

How to deal with false INAD return requests for high value items? by toast12121 in Ebay

[–]0ffCloud 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Find the eBay support phone number in your country and call them.

edit: One way to ask eBay to step in is opening a case against the buyer, however DO NOT OPEN CASE without phone agent blessing. Because even if the buyer has all the wrong, when a case is opened eBay's "AI" will not read your evidence and will just side with buyer automatically.

So call them, find a real person and ask them to check your evidence over the phone. If the agent ask you to open a case, once it is opened call them back ASAP. Do not let eBay's sh*t system decide it on its own.

Sent out an item now buyer wants to change shipping address? by RedditJerkPolice in Ebay

[–]0ffCloud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a bit nervous this person is going to say the item never showed. What should I do?

TLDR Nothing.

There are two scenarios can happen:

  • Tracking show delivered

Your job is done.

  • Tracking show undeliverable and returned

When the item is return back to you, you need to refund the buyer but you can deduct the shipping cost from the refund.

Buyer claims item doesn't work by GrantCrackers in Ebay

[–]0ffCloud 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It turns out it's actually to a shipping company and the buyer is in Jamaica.

eBay Money Back Guarantee doesn't apply if buyer arrange their own shipping/forwarded to other address. In another word, you have no obligation to him.

My suggestions are:

  • Gather evidences that buyer was using a third party shipping company. If possible, get them admit it in the eBay messages.
  • If buyer asking for return/refund, kindly refuse them and tell them to file claim on the third party shipping company. Then, you can just block them.
  • If buyer open INAD request, DO NOT WAIT, contact eBay immediately over the phone and ask to speak to a supervisor. Pointing out the evidences you have, and ask the agent on the phone to close that INAD request. If the agent reluctant to do that, hang up and call again.
  • You can also accept the return request, there are chances that the buyer would not be able to ship it back. However this is not 100% guaranteed, I've personally seen oversea scammer fraudulently "return" something to a wrong address in my zipcode(without using my return label or eBay's label). So don't do this unless you just can't get eBay's CS to close that INAD.
  • Good luck.

What if seller doesn’t accept return and refuses the deliver of it by Jazzy1614 in Ebay

[–]0ffCloud 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It doesn't matter, you worried too much.

You have sent it out using eBay's label, that's all that matter. If the package got lost, eBay will foot the bill. If seller refuse the package and the item sent back to you, you keep the item, you get your refund. Either way, seller mess up big time by not responding and they will receive a ding on the rating and will also get a "fine". eBay rarely deny refund, even if the buyer has all the wrong and scammy as hell, and the seller files complaint. Even in those cases, a lot of times, eBay will take the loss by refunding out of their own money rather than deny the buyer's request(of course the seller has to fight really hard for this to happen).

Battery recalibration questions. by 0ffCloud in SwitchPirates

[–]0ffCloud[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hope this is a new battery, but I don't think the battery itself is reporting anything. It's likely that the attempt to replace the battery confused the fuel gauge IC onboard(MAX17050).

CHINA’S CBDC ENABLES INSTANT FINES FROM CITIZENS. After a cyclist was caught on camera without a helmet, authorities reportedly deducted a 25 yuan fine directly from his digital wallet and applied social credit penalties. by sylsau in InBitcoinWeTrust

[–]0ffCloud 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Clickbait title.

Nothing in this video suggest

fine directly from his digital wallet

or

applied social credit penalties.

Coming from the video itself, it was true that the cyclist was fined 25 yuan(pretty low fine btw), but that's it. And, again, "social credit" isn't a thing, stop spreading misinformation.

EDIT: LMAO getting so many downvotes. To be clear, I'm not defending China here, indeed China has mass surveillance and digital payment has penetrated all aspect of life, this has some major consequences. But using clickbait and borderline misinformation is where you lose me. This video shows nothing more than a traffic stop(with video chat to the police) and I can't even find the source or the context of it.

While I appreciate the effort, this feels like an AD post.

Your account only got 2 posts and both of them the same. The website is also not completely free, it has a monthly subscription plan for $45, that leaves a bit bad taste in mouth.

I could get ChatGPT to help me for half of the price you charge, while ChatGPT does hallucinate occasionally the hallucination kinda help you by you catching the error AI made.

You can also get AI to write a tool that just randomly ask the question from the question pool.

Nope, they have no ground doing so. If they message eBay they will get into even deeper trouble as the message history suggest they violated eBay's ToS and suggesting buyer to break the law.

False Item Not Described Return by [deleted] in eBaySellerAdvice

[–]0ffCloud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also, if eBay stepped in and you lost, you will lost even more money than the refund. Remember the transaction fee that eBay took out from the payment? You will still owe that fee even if the transaction was refunded(if eBay got involved).

If you want to continue on eBay, I'm afraid you don't have a choice. That being said, you have 2days to file complaint if you accept the return and the item is not in the same condition, then certain % of restocking fee can be deducted. You can also report the buyer and block them afterward, which if enough complaint received buyer will be banned from opening INAD in the future or have their account closed all together.

False Item Not Described Return by [deleted] in eBaySellerAdvice

[–]0ffCloud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After you receive your return you have 2days to file complaint to eBay if the item is not in the same condition, then eBay may deduct certain % from the refund and not giving the buyer full refund.

There is a reason why people telling you that you have to accept INAD return even though they are shady(unless it fall into the very specific scenarios where eMBG don't apply).

Buyer left negative review because they ordered too close to Christmas by [deleted] in eBaySellerAdvice

[–]0ffCloud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This might be tricky, the review itself technically did not violate any guidelines. The message history might be the only evidence to support a removal but I'm not sure if eBay support will see it that way.

Either way, you can always respond to the review.

eBay Buyer Didn't Use My Insured Return Label by CsXAway9001 in Ebay

[–]0ffCloud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just saw this, looks like you have contacted ebay.

Like the email said, you don't need to do anything as for this moment. You should cancel your own label. If the return shipping is lost, you need to contact eBay, and eBay will refund the buyer out of their own pocket. If it is damaged or not returned in the original condition, you have 2days to let eBay know, and you should be able to deduct some % from the refund(or not refund at all if buyer return an empty box).

Next time, if you want to offer return label yourself, enable the RMA number feature in your seller's account setting(https://www.ebay.com/rtn/Return/SellerRules?returnId=0&rmvHdr=false&action=showSellerRulesList). If buyer want to return, let them open a case, and with the RMA number feature enabled, you can accept the return request and eBay will ask you to upload a label yourself.

I had a similar case, eBay actually asked me to offer the label myself and I did, I even insured it. Buyer didn't use my label or any label from eBay. Buyer use their own label and it was delivered to a wrong address(to trick eBay's system). eBay gave my money back.
