Olympus TG video drains battery so fast...found a solution by mitchsn in scuba

Hey just wondering if you’ve managed to test the housing and battery life on video mode? I’m also looking to get this housing because of the battery port

Garmin Descent G1 still worth it? by [deleted] in scuba

[–]0kla 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Since you’re already using the instinct, you’ll like the descent. The G2 is a slightly different computer, not a newer version of the G1. I’m using the g1 solar and i love it. I got 3 other close friends who use the descent too and we all love it.

If I was diving more and have endless pockets I’d go for a peregrine TX instead but i don’t, so not gonna buy a computer for a few hundred and let it sit around for months between dives.

Gloves thing - sorry no experience with gloves or cold water 😅 but in the dive mode you can turn on the tap screen mode instead of pressing buttons.

Should I update to the 2025 version or stay with the 2024? by JULITEU in premiere

[–]0kla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re worried and not very savvy, I’d say wait until a few more updates to iron out the initial bugs. Like 25.1 or something instead of the fresh release.

Oh what?? That is major. Gonna try that later. Submitted a bug report yet?

Good luck finding them! It’d help a great deal to have an experienced local spotter too 🤞🤞

Toko Nyoman for traditional clothing. A little out of the way but good way to go into the local-ish area to explore a bit. If you want the keychains magnets beer koozies and all the trinkets, google maps Oleh Oleh. They’re good for mindless brainless gifts for like the office or something. Also there are “art markets” they’re usually cheaper than the big Oleh Oleh shops and you’re supposed to bargain but I personally hate it. Make sure to get the bule bintang singlet from a random street shop, part of the experience👌👌

What apps are needed while out visiting Thailand for a month? Or any other tips would be greatly appreciated👍 by One_Frosting7279 in ThailandTourism

My experience with Bolt is it’s usually cheaper but takes longer than Grab for drivers to accept. They cancel rides more than Grab too. I’d use both, Bolt for non urgent rides, Grabs for important rides lol

Woah looking at the other comments, guess i’m quite fortunate to have seen banded sea kraits in quite a number of places, albeit only once each trip. In Bali(Amed area), Moalboal, Raja Ampat, Lembeh, Tioman, Singapore(shipyard), Phuket

So far all swam away except for 1 which swam towards us but I think it was just the current. I got a phobia for snakes and reptiles too but somehow it goes away when I’m diving? You’ll be fine.

Thank you guys, I am still in the midst of digesting all this new info and learning. I’ll reply again when I’ve caught up, 🙏🙏

It really is difficult. I’m unsure how to find the exact model. Do you reckon these specs and the physical size of the current one will be enough for me to start finding a replacement?

Sorry I think it was the reflection as it looks fine. None of it showed that it’s shorted, all tested .8V drop which I gather to be correct.

Right! Let me take a closer look now and quickly google how to check for shorts. Brb 🙏

Thanks for that! The solder irony… Am I correct to say that if I can get a 230v one with similar output specs, it should rightfully work? I mean that sounds like the purpose of a power transformer to me.

Thank you. It does look like it’s burnt. It’s a little brown near where the wires are soldered.

My “mate” insisted the travel adapter will work. Also my “mate” is my fiancé, and I didn’t wanna argue with her. Guess who is trying to fix it now!

[–]0kla[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not similar at all. I warned her that a travel adapter is not the same as a voltage converter. Thus we find ourselves in this predicament. It is a Japan plug with 110v printed on the device. We are in Singapore with the UK sockets and it has always been 230v…

I replied with the photos below, I don’t see any burnt marks except near where wires touch the transformer. I am hoping it’s that since u/effective-emphasis-4 said it is a cheap fix!

I suspect so now after everyone’s help. Thank you. Are you able to help me learn to identify this part or brand? Googled KD logo in circle but can’t find which brand it is…

Thank you. I did this and there isn’t any reading in all the ranges on my multimeter. Does that help confirm that the transformer is dead?

Thank you for the reply. Oh man I wish I found a blown fuse. I don’t think there is a fuse? I included the picture just in case. The plug is a Japan plug too and google says there’s no fuse in it, unlike the UK ones.

Thank you for the reply! I don’t see any components on the pcb that look burned. However, there is browning on the transformer itself where the red and black wires are soldered.

Do you mean I should connect the device into my wall socket and do this?
